    Thats a TON of stuff

You know I often imagine you buying a bunch of color tinted sunglasses so you can pretend your living inside a funtastic system. You don't do that do you?
  • It's nice when stores come to the realization that 'asking price' isn't buying price on ebay, and that many won't pay ebay either locally. Eventually it's just better to clear it out and move along and given what pawn shops pay for games anyways I'm sure they at worst probably broken even.

I uh... Well... Ummm... No? Maybe?? Ok, I may have a few
  • I've heard people complain that living in outlandish places means no chance of finding games at all but you've proven that theory wrong in more than one way.

Completely blown away by your finds. Congratulations!
  • I think you did pretty well. between shadowrun, Mario RPG, Super Metroid, Castlevania and Zelda you easily made your 140 back easily. Great score

Thanks. It's funny, I've read so many stories of reseller competition at yardsales and thriftstores and yet I've never run into anyone else when I go out hunting. Even advertised sales I've seen nobody else interested in games. Hell I've found great stuff much later in the day as a result. Craigslist here does have the typical "buying your old games" and "old school nintendo with games at ebay prices or higher," but definitely not as much as down in the Lower 48. Great deals pop up a lot more often as well. Thrifts are starting to overprice up here but stuff often slips past.

knowmads: I later sold Mario RPG and a few other games for $40, and later sold the system and what I didn't keep for i think $120 or a bit more.
  • Been a while since I updated.

Last weekend I flew home to visit the family and, naturally go, garage sailing. Bigger town, more sales, great weather too. Turned out to be quite good. Excuse my quality iPotato photos. XD

Stopped at a 7am (an almost unheard of starting time up here) sale on Saturday that advertised video games. Saw a few Xbox 360 and Game Boy games on one of the tables. Picked out the good GB titles and got them all for a fiver.

Didn't find anything for about 2 hours until I got to a sale on the northwest side of town. As I'm walking up I spot a fat PS2 and a GB case with a few decent games that's being looked through by some middle-aged guy. I wait nearby, hoping I wasn't a few seconds late. Fortunately he wasn't interested and walked away, so I picked up the case and contents. Asked about more games after finding a complete Genesis Tecmo Super Bowl on another table and was pointed to a box of Genesis stuff under said table. Looked over the stuff on the table again and I'm glad I did as I found a complete Zelda CE. No other GC stuff either, I asked too. Lady had the Genesis box marked $10, GB stuff $5, but said I could have the whole box for $15. I offered $12 which was accepted.

GBA games: Advance Wars, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Dragonball Z (forgot which title), FF Tactics Advance, Golden sun, Mario Kart SC, Tetris, Wario Land 4

Last find for Saturday. An N64 with Episode 1 Racer was brought out at a sale later in the afternoon after I asked about game, along with a PS1 and a few sports games. Passed on the PS stuff. Asked how much for the 64, pointing out that the third party A/V cable was damaged. They said $20. I hesitated. They lowered to $10. I still thought it over, then offered $8. Accepted after a second to think. I had a spare A/V cable at home which is in the pic.

Sunday started out pretty bleak, but the day was saved thanks to checking Craigslist while out and about. I saw an ad for a Super Nintendo lot that was posted the evening before, listed for $45, said lots of games, too many to list. I emailed asking if was still there. Guy said yes but others were interested. I told him I could pick it up in like 5 minutes and he said that was fine and gave me his address. Pretty nice guy too. Pulled out a bin with a complete loose system and at least 20-25 games. At first glance they were all common/crap titles, but digging further I found two reasons alone to buy the lot. It was listed for $45, but I got everything for $35. Never thought I'd find one of the games in this lot too.

By the way, how many people here have seen blurry pics of NCAA Basketball and thought it was Super Metriod? I have. The labels do look kinda similar when out of focus.

I had stopped at another sale on Saturday that advertised game stuff, N64, Gamecube, and PS2 specifically, but passed on everything because the prices were too high for me and the games weren't that good (although I probably should have bought the platinum GC + GBP w/disc bundle he was asking $25 for, and on the fence about selling as well). Figured I'd swing back by on Sunday to see what was left and if the prices were better. Well all the systems were gone but I did see a quality stack of PS1 and DC manuals that wasn't there previously. All for $5. Wish he had the games...

Another weekend trip home and another great weekend of finds. For some reason Pokemon Blue will not start up (figures...need that one). I checked and cleaned the contacts and they all appear fine, but when I turn the system on it boots the GB logo and nothing else. The Nintendo logo never appears either. I've heard sometimes the board will actually bend slightly preventing the game from starting. Perhaps that's why. If anyone has an explanation and a handy solution I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
  • super sweet super nintendo haul there

and I often saw a NCAA Basketball that at first glance looked like a Super Metroid but I'm much more observative nowadays
  • My grandpa, who lives in Jacksonville, is an avid yard saler, and he often keeps a lookout for game stuff on his sale outings. Recently he picked up this sweet N64 lot for me. Total cost was $15, not including the cost of shipping it up here. There's a couple titles that I didn't have yet, including Mario Party. Next time he's up for the summer I'll pay him back for the find.

  • Nice find from Grandpa, very good sniping on his end.
