High Priced Genesis Games

Looking for a list of the higher priced Genesis games. By higher priced I mean anything that's significantly more than the average cost of a cartridge, so say anything that's around $25+. I am only talking about official retail US released games. I am trying to figure out how many I am missing from my collection. There doesn't seem to be too many, at least not compared to systems like NES and SNES.

Here is what I can think of off the top of my head...

MUSHA

The Punisher

Crusader of Centy

Grind Stormer

CV:Bloodlines

Contra:Hard Corps

Splatterhouse 2 & 3

Mega Turrican

Streets of Rage 3

Wow, I had no idea Mutant Hockey commanded such a high price. Thanks for the list, just have to filter out the obscure games and other things.
  • Most of the renovation titles are expensive imo and must haves by the way.

    Vapor Trail

    Arrow Flash

    Exile

    Traysia

    Dino land

you get the idea and other note worthy expensive titles are:

    Grind stormer

    Flintstones

    Hyperstone heist

    Double Dragon

    Turrican

    Universal Soldier

    Aerobiz Supersonic

    Sunset Riders

    Dune

    Warsong

    Zero the kamikaze

    3 ninjas

I think that there are too many to list for the $25.00+ range.

Some games are also trending to be expensive or getting expensive over the past few months/years:

    SOR III

    Tecmo Bowl II

    Space Invaders 91'

    NHL 94'

    World Series 98'

    Mystical Fighter

Some games have dropped prices that were once expensive:

    Pirates Gold

    Herzog Zwei

    Growl

    Saint Sword

I'm no expert but I scroll ebay and price charting all the time and there are some note wotrthy trends as of late. All in all, any Genesis game worth playing is going to command some kind of value. There are all priceless in my honest opinion.

Brother DC speaks truth! Hear him oh ye heathens. HEAR HIM!

  • Crusader of Centy well most likely be everyone's final game to finish there set.
  • One thing, at least for me, about Sega collecting...is that most of the expensive titles are actually many of my favorite titles. Nearly every game in this thread is in my top ~20, great stuff!

For CIB, I'd say Action 52 would be more likely. Also cardboard, unlicensed, smaller print run. Also expensive when in good condition.

Generally I agree with the titles others have posted. What I will list only pertains to CIB. There is often a large disparity between cart and CIB prices. I've tried not to repeat ones that others have said unless to stress a title, and I'm not stating some of the obvious ones like Centy or Musha.

The Wisdom Tree game haven't really made an appearance on this list. They should. Saw a pretty good jump in prices over the last year. Condition is a premium on those unlicensed cardboard games.

-Exodus: Journey to the Promised Land

    -Joshua

    -Spiritual Warfare

    -Bible Adventures

    - Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel - I would definitely stress this one. Doesn't come up much and goes high on both bids and BINs.

    - 3 Ninjas Kick Back - this one is still tame, but could go up if it gets attention

    - No Escape - same boat as 3 Ninjas. Much more CIB copies have popped up in the last month or two.

    - Madden Championship - the retail version is quite a bit more expensive than rental exclusive version.

    - Action 52 - appears to be trending down, but I think that's because condition has been such shit

    - Punisher - mentioning to stress value of tattoo and reg card - adds considerably to price

    - Cadash - maybe worth considering

Some of the ones like Turrican and Universal Soldier I would put into the "trending down" category, and I'd actually disagree with all of the rennovation titles dcdan posted, but I guess it depends on how you define expensive.

  • I feel that the action 52 is so damn hard to get is that Greg Pabiach is hoarding them all. lol If you have ever seen the game chasers episode where they visit his home is that he has a least 2 cases worth of sealed copies. Anyways, my comment on the rennovation titles is geared towars the $25.00+ range but in all reality the manuals are really hard to get imo. I've had issues getting most of these games complete but molotov is right you can get beast w, cap tennis, final zone, and dino land under $20 now that the amazon secret is out. I totally agree that the bible games are hard to get for a fair price and it funny how rolls of the original labels or a handful of original manuals appear on ebay. On another note, Zero Kami is on of thoes late 97' games that I've lost a bidding war a few times on, it appears but it belongs in this thread no doubt about it. I should have jumped on that case of sealed copies going for $60 when Jason at trade n games had them. As for the ballistic games, I agree that maybe I put these in the wrong cat and should go in the trending down but Turrican and Univ Soldier are solid, tough as nail games and for the run and gun genre they should have a moderate value. The booklets are the issue as usual, with these PC wanna-be's.This list is just the tip of the iceberg as out of the 800+ offical gen releases the underdog games fall into that deep uncommon almost rare no one has heard about that makes getting a full set a challenge. They may not be expensive but you may take a while to find one or get one in decent condition.
