What's up? :)
Hi,
my name is Dennis and I'm from a town called Dortmund in Germany. Nice to meet you all. I am 34 years old, so I think I was born just in time to appreciate all the consoles, that really started it all. Atari 2600 wasn't so big in Germany (or maybe I was too young for that one?), but I had pretty much everything that came out in Germany after that, sometimes way before the consoles were officially released in Germany (I had a week 1 Super Famicom for example).
My older consoles:
- Master System & NES (I really don't remember which one I owned first and in all honesty I really don't remember which games I owned, besides the classics like Alex Kidd in Miracle World and SMB)
- Mega Drive & Super Famicom (again, I don't remember which one I had first, plus I mainly used the Mega Drive for the Sega exclusives, my Super Famicom was modded to play all region games)
- Dreamcast
- Atari Jaguar
- N64 (US, sadly I managed to fried it one day, still no clue how, I may have used the wrong power supply, but I was pretty sure I used the same one which I used back in the day)
- Gamecube
- PS1 & PS2
I mentioned Sega before Nintendo consoles, but that wasn't intentionally, I always enjoyed Nintendo consoles more than Sega consoles. My Super Famicom was able to put out RGB (if I remember correctly), but my Mega Drive was only connected via RF, so I always thought that Sega's gfx weren't any good. I assume if I had a component or RGB mod/cable, it probably would have looked the same. I'll find out in time myself.
Handhelds:
- Gameboy / Gameboy Pocket / Gameboy Color
- Atari Lynx
- Sega Game Gear
- Gameboy Advance
Newer consoles/handhelds: I have a Wii, Wii U and PS3/PS4 console and PSP, NDS and 3DS handhelds. Being a retro gamer, most of the new consoles don't bring me much joy, but still I always buy the next generation when it comes out. At least the Wii and Wii U offer games which are acceptable from time to time. (I enjoyed the latest Mario games on Wii / Wii U for example).
Only 2 weeks ago I was looking for a new purpose in life (true story ) and I don't know how I eventually got the idea, but in the end I came up with a list of all games which I didn't own as a kid and which I now want to own and play. Mainly the classics like Castlevania 1-3 and Mega Man 1-6. Today I really don't understand how it is possible to own a NES, but don't have any of the mentioned titles. The list I compiled is pretty huge and so it began. I googled for many hours, read all about shitty PAL conversions, tried to remember where my old consoles are. Did I sell some of them? All of them? Until today I still haven't found out, but plan to venture through the boxes in the cellar during the next 2 weeks. I'm pretty sure that I still have my PS2 and Gamecube (both PAL unfortunately), but not sure about my PS1 and Atari Jaguar. In time I know I will want to replace my PAL consoles with NTSC-US consoles and I have already started by buying a modded NES-101 from Game-Tech-US. Think it will take a couple of weeks till it arrives here, I'm really looking forward to it. Besides that a few of you already had contact with me today/the last few days via PM, as I was interested in a few of their games. In the long run I'm also looking to buy consoles which I never had for a few of their exclusives like 32X, Sega CD and TurboDuo.
I'm currently looking for a few NTSC-US NES games and some German manuals, not sure if I will be lucky finding all that stuff here, but it doesn't hurt to try I guess. I will post up a WTB thread in a few minutes, please have a look and let me know if you can help out.
Thanks for reading, let's all have some fun.
EDIT: Btw, if you're asking yourself why I am going by this nick, I am no maniac (I hope ), it is the nick I go by since the late 80ies/early 90ies and I never changed it.
