  • Someone should try emailing the dude, see if he still has the pics of all those.
  • I thought about that too....but somehow I don't believe that me@there is a working email
  • lol, fair enough.
  • My Ultimate Exodus guide book still has a Toys R Us price tag on it. So it was an in-store purchase.

  • I have the Dungeon Magic guide, it seems a bit big to be a mail-away guide, just speculation though

I have JeffD's email and I also have Grand Nestral Station archived on a CD that he personally sent me somewhere... if I can dig it up I'll check for pics.
  • Humn Dain to answer your questions my Star Wars hint book is not Eurpoean it is USA for sure. On King's Quest V I have two in my piles of NES books/magazines. One is smaller with a red plastic reader card to magically reveal answers that are shown as just all red unitl you use the reader. The other is larger like a book but reading through it just now I think that one is specifically for the computer version of the game?
  • ^ From what you described, I think both of those may be computer exclusive.

I grew up on DOS games when I was little. I remember reading hint books for all of the sierra games (Leisure Suit Larry, Space Quest, etc.) with that red decoder. I also remember having a large book called the "King's Quest Companion" and it covered the first four games in the series. I'd be curious to see a true NES only guide for KQV...
  • Sierra did the red-filter for most of their games beyond the very first generation. Their earliest ones had a magic-pen (like those "Yes & Know" activity books) but they got rid of that after they realized people may want to reuse the book by passing it onto a friend, and then the answers would permanently be revealed.

Of course this was back before they were a big corporation, it was just Ken & Roberta on their home PC. image

The computer version didn't have a password system, so any references to that within either hint book would mean it's exclusively for the NES. I'm not sure of other differences since I was a teenager when I played through my PC copy of KQV though.
  • hmm nice topic I was wondering this as well, I want that Lolo 3 guide looks nice.
  • I have the KQV hint book too and I'm sure it's just a matter of the PC one being sent to whoever called the number on the back of the manual and asked for it (or for something a little more tangible to help them get through the game). The one I have is definitely not a Nes-only book.
  • Phil, that lolo 3 guide is on the bay right now...
  • ^ jonebone thanks a bunch buddy!
  • Yeah no problem, good luck in winning it!
