I had a blast as always...been to every one of them since they changed the name to CGE in 1999.
Bronty: It's a section of buying/selling with around 20 large booths, 40 or so arcade machines, a museum, a keynote speeches section, and a swap room with room for about 10-12 people to sell their stuff. I sold in the Swap Room all day Friday and Saturday. Met a lot of cool people that collect NES, a lot from this board, and a lot of sales of my Famicom stuff to wizard
I picked up about 35 Game Boy protos, 4 N64 protos, a Jaguar proto, a boxed 3DO Flight Stick, ALL the show releases from every single vendor, and a bunch of weird Japanese stuff. I think I spent around $2200 or so. Sheesh.
I packed two boxes with shit I snagged, including a bunch of Jason's Famicom stuff Highlights: complete Golden Key ($5), formerly sealed Panic Restaurant ($170), Last Action Hero box ($7), CIB Venice Beach Volleyball ($12), Fire & Ice and Solitaire carts ($10 each), and so on. Also won a hands free unit at the auction ($300, thanks to DreamTR for putting it up for auction). BTW, was there a manual in the box when you auctioned it Jason? If there was, then those DP bums snaked it on me
I vote for Dr Morbis for best user-avatar-lookalike.
OH man... I can't believe how sad I look - like I just watched my puppy get run over by a cement truck or something. Jumpman looks pretty depressed in that pic too
Anyway, as others said, I had a great time and met a ton of people, NONE of which looked like I thought they would. I was actually looking for DreamTR at one point to ask him about the proto I brought and Mike (wizard) was like, "why don't you just ask DreamTR?" and I'm like, "I would if I could find him!" And of course we just so happen to be standing right in front of him at his table.
As for pickups, I got about 50 CIB NES games and a boat-load of stuff for all the other consoles I collect for.
Final thoughts: NGD is hilarious, and John Hardie sure knows how to run an entertaining auction!
Don't forget I had no idea who Al was when he bought that game from me. You were just like "Let him have it for $10, it's AL!" I still don't really know who he was...
I had a great freaking time. Got some sweet scores ( I will post some pics later) and got to meet a bunch of great guys. Was a nice surprise to have Captain N (glad you joined up) and Tynstar standing in front of me in line. Everyone start planning to attend next year!! The NES crowd was small and we need to make ourselves known.

LOL, I forgot I've had an account here for a while now.
K, instead of posting all my pics here, I figure I might as well just post a link to my post on Digital Press. Just go to my post near the bottom of the page. I have 4 posts worth: http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=104287

General impressions of the show? Format? (sounds like part auction/ part dealer's tables?) Availability of NES stuff vs other systems?
