These were also sold in Mike Etler's store in Florida, so it wasn't just collectors, it was also available to those unfortunate enough to think this might be a good enough game to play. This one is weird, I've never noticed one with the blue capacitors, I've only seen it with orange.
No back sticker. You are sure this CMII and not Action 52?
I bought mine new when they appeared on eBay in early 2000's. It does not have a back sticker on it either. That seems to be completely random, though stickered versions seem more common.

Does your copy have blue or orange resistors? Also, does it have a jumper on the back?
I have a loose one too. It's a myth that it was only sold to collectors. The previous owner of mine found it at a funco land back in the day.
All copies came through Etler. He sold them online and at his store. They were cheap. Under $10.
Mike Gedeon a local collector and store owner used to get drunk and throw them at people at early game shows like Cinciclassic. I too gave copies away but not like Gideon. We both bought them by the case from Etler. I'd still say it was a by collector for other collectors release. Not really a myth it is more about how you see It. You either got it directly from Etler or from someone who got it from Etler. Your Funcoland copy came via Mike Etler.
I hate this game. I own SE, Myriad, the Panesians, etc. At this point I should be used to dropping way too much money on shitty games (Bubble Bath Babes excluded - I'm serious, it is a really fun game. It's like Tetris but has tits too so what's not to like?). Anyways, CM2 is the only one of the top tier rares I don't have and while I want it to complete that part of the collecting quest, I hate to continue to drop that kind of cash on games I don't play, and that suck. Zelda test cart, expensive, yes, but worth every penny because I actually play it through a few times a year (that and it's freakin Zelda and who wouldn't want to own a rare variation?). I just know that when I finally get it I will be happy to have it, but then it will end up on display but not played much or at all similar to my other rares. They make for interesting stories when someone sees my collection, but do friends want to pop it in and play it - no - instead they get all excited when they see Contra and demand to play it, and I'm happy to be player two and kick some alien ass! I'm going to bid on this copy, but I really question myself as to whether it is worth it just to have all the super rares. Probably not. Damn this hobby and damn that shitty game...but nonetheless I'll own it one day.

Everybody talks about leaving it sealed and people pay more for sealed copies.
BUT didn't Mike seal these? Or the guy that found them
I think Mike sealing them is a rumor, unless he used the same factory. I have both Active games and the seals are basically the same.
Not sure what you are saying. Perhaps Etler paid a company to seal them and didn't do it by hand but he was responsible for it being sealed either way. Etler didn't stumble across these games already sealed and ready to go. He bought the parts, assembled them with what he had (action 52 cases etc) and then had the boxes shrink wrapped.

Really? I thought he bought them as-is on a pallet or skid ready to go. So did he purchase a ton of inventory pieces and put them together from one source (Sean Roche?) or just buy up parts and make them? How about the 1500 quanity number, any truth to that?
Looks like some of my confusion is confirmed here:
So you don't sell all the good games on your website. Can't say I'm surprised. Anywho, good luck with the sale!
Really rare stuff like Cheetahmen II, Stadium Events, NWC's, etc are usually reserved for eBay or private sales instead of sold on my website. Listing something for $1,000+ just gets lots of emails from customers telling us our prices are messed up

Honestly I don't know for sure any of it as I was not standing there with him when it happened. I was one of the first buyers and other buyers at that time all said he put it together from scratch. If there are questions we should go right to the source.

Not to be mean, but your prices are messed up. It's that plain and simple. You're asking $1121.19 for a cart only of little samson. Please tell me that's not an insane price. And a cart only of bubble bobble part 2 is $426.17. That's more than double what they're going for right now. There's no way to justify either price since they're carts only. Prices like that are why you get lots of emails from customers telling you your prices are messed up.

Please don't thread crap, people are free to ask whatever they would like for their games. Plus there he probably prices them ther as 1. They will eventually sell 2. Rare games drive traffic to his business.

$1251 for a loose copy of Dino Peak is a little crazy. I noticed these went up early in the week and all the higher dollar games that were listed were easier double if not close to triple what they would normlally go for. It would obviosly be different if there was a best offer but as a straight buy it now thats wow crazy crazy. This is the exact reason when i go to buy stuff poeple say hey its selling for 1,200 dollars on ebay I want 1,100.

I completely understand what you are saying. With these rare games on our site we start the prices off higher than the average sales price on eBay and then slowly mark them down as they sit in inventory longer.
Many of the rare games we have in stock right now, will probably not sell for a week or two at least. Others have already sold.

I not only opened my sealed copy, I sold off the box and insert so that it would match the rest of my cart only collection.

And so the mystery was solved.
Was there a manual, piece of paper, ANYTHING at all down to a piece of styrofoam in there?

Why does it matter what colour the resistors are? Rare variant?

On a similar note, I bought a loose box years ago for $2 in a local sale. Came from Hozer.
