Same here, I had a gold briefly and couldn't sell it quick enough.
Now I am trying to follow what happened here on your cart without reading this entire muresan gong show. Did you guys just list and sell your Nwc for 17500?
I'm sure you guys know what you're doing, just offering an alternate perspective that is all.
I always told myself I may want to buy an NWC one day, but now face the reality of possibly not wanting to pay the ask price. I can relate though, I also plan to buy another house in the next 5 years and would love to pad my savings account. Sometimes you gotta sell if the price is right.
Oh, I totally hear you. If the next sells for $50k, many are going to look at us like fools. it's a very valid perspective and when it comes to markets and money, I definitely value your opinion.
Truth be told, I never really wanted the cart. Even after buying it, I made jokes about it still not being a part of the set (and still don't think it is!). We really only bought it because it was both local and cheap.
Great move on the second house. Matt and I do fine as teachers and we doubled the size of the gym this year, but real estate is where we plan to retire. Very strong market around here and I wouldn't mind being a landlord
as I mentioned earlier great move. Everything will always be in hindsight(20/20) but locking in profits to come closer to stable income is smart. Cash is king, lock in your profits and find the next one whatever that may be
Yeah, I'm with Jonebone, what if the new price is even higher?
You may not get another one, as long as you can live with that then kudos to you!
So there is a risk to "cashing in" so to speak.
The "risk" is that we may "only" have made a five figure profit on the sale.
Yeah, selling at a substantial profit is not a risk.
Like I said, as long as you are ok with living with out it, then you made out like a bandit
In my example, I sold a homebrew, for what I thought was stupid money at the time, and was affraid I would never get it back. None came up for sale, like I was hoping. So in my case it was pretty short-cited to let it go.
Concept is the same, but scale is ALOT different. (Emphasis on price). So take that with a grain of salt I suppose.
but perhaps the market price shoots up to 20k this year, then 30k, the next. I doubt you'd be able to stomach, buying for an even higher price. (maybe I'm wrong)

Points noted for sure. As you assumed, there is no way in hell I'd buy a gray for $20-$30k down the road, even if I fell into silly money. As much as I love collecting, and as much time as I dedicated to the hobby, I have limits that I won't go past.
I'm just putting my two cents in here after combing through this thread for the last hour.
First my condolences to Muresan. What should have been a great bit of cash flow has turned into a quagmire.
Second congratulations to Matt and Mark on their sale.
Lastly I'm shuddering at what outrageous prices I will now see common and uncommon NES titles at thrift stores, garage sales, flea markets, ebay, etc. Situations like this always seem to bring out the unscrupulous and uneducated resellers.
Might be a classy move to pay muresans 250 in eBay fees
Might have been classy to send that in a PM lol.
once the non paying bidder thing is finished it will be refunded from ebay. Best case already has happened worst case (buyer does not respond to the case) 7 days

In a matter of hours (if that.) That's a hell of a morning's work.
God, I wish I could make $17,500 in half a day.
..oh wait.. I did

Thx, I am trying to understand if that happened before or after this auction though?
Afterwards

I think of it as "closing cost" once it reaches this level.

Someone should update that wiki to add that it did not SELL. The highest bidder did not pay.
Just took care of it.
Heh, saw your edit in the history (not up on the main article yet.) Nice work.

It is, but PayPal doubled up on us. We had to do two transactions due to that sale exceeding $10K.
FIrst world problems my man.
