PS1 mod chip help

I recently bought a mod chip for ps1, called "power Replay" . It connects to a ps1 with a serial port, so there is no soldering involved. I cant find much info on the internet about this.. does anyone know anything about it? Does it played Backed up games? If it does im looking to trade my ps1 mini for an older ps1 with serial port.

    Rumor has it that it will play backups, though I haven't tested this theory (all I do with one of those is play imports...and I don't entirely believe in burning games to discs image ). It's also important to note that you will need a spring or some other device to hold down a certain switch inside the disc tray of the PlayStation (well...you likely won't know what I'm talking about until you actually get an older PlayStation : P ). Just look up "PS1 Action Replay Swap Trick", and you'll be able to figure out what I'm saying : ) .
