Looks no more or less delicious than any random crab or lobster. It certainly eats the exact same stuff. I bet the meat's more dense since it's a deep-sea dweller, but just as delicious.
Oooooh I was completely mistaken when I first read this thread. That's not an insect... although I don't know exactly what it is? Crustacean maybe? Either way that thing is ugly as hell...
I've actually seen a smaller version of those at daytona beach fl called sand fleas. Obviously they werent the same thing, but they must be in a similar family or species. The ones I saw looked similar except they were about the size of a human thumb. I thought those were creepy as hell, but this thing is even worse!
There's a lot of the things that live in the deepest of the ocean are hideous. I agree there are a lot of cool, interesting creatures but there are some real creepy mofo's down there.

If someone told you there was a bottom-feeder with claws that could break your finger in half, and after you boiled it in its own shell, you could eat those powerful bonecrushing claws...
Watch Bizarre Foods on the travel channel sometime If there were people who could gather these (yes, impossible, but if...), you can be assured it would be common cuisine. Almost all living things are on someone's plate, somewhere.

That thing is just plain disgusting man, the second picture is worse. The things that live deep in the ocean are really fucked up.
Some are way cool though, the coelacanth is probably the coolest fish ever.
