  • Totally agreed no harm done as this is prob fake brother

The only reason i posted was i saw his purchase history and didnt want a fellow naer getting scam dogged

I def wouldnt and i hope nobody else would bring huge attention to an auction like this if it looked legit haha

You don't know that for sure but after telling the seller 3500 I'd say now there's no deal to be had .  Also if your no longer interested in stadium events there really was no purpose of telling the seller a price or anything at all really .
  • It's too bad the gaming market has come to this. I played games as a kid and loved collecting them and in the past few months got back into it and have loved this site. As far as this ad goes it's hurting guys like us who are collecting. F2, Test Zelda Carts and now this is the first time I've seen SE. Almost everyone, 90%+ do research before posting on ebay I don't believe this guy has "missed" this game. 10 feedbacks, like someone posted "A very shitty camera" and if he was buying knock off labels I'm sure it's fake. Kinda sad really but there's people out there that do this kind of stuff everyday

I sent him a PM letting him know he has a $3,500+ cartridge on his hands and is likely to get flagged as a fake if he doesn't take pictures of the board and better pictures of the cartridge.

Why do you bother? Seriously. Are you hoping that someone will be like "oh hai thnx I'll sell to yew cheap"?

I'm crazy, not delusional man! There's a difference!

No, I wanted to see if he'd respond or not but a couple of the guys said his past feedback tells us that this is undoubtedly fake...so that went out the window quick.

Honestly, I'm not in the market for a Stadium Events. Doesn't really interest me. I'd be WAY more than happy at 676 CIB w/ an extra 5 figures put away, than 677 CIB with no figures.

Just stop doing it, its gotten you into hot water in the past yet you continue to do it and are gaining nothing from it.

Agreed. Give it a rest Leo. You don't need to personally become friends with every seller of a high end item on eBay. Whatever your motivations, nothing constructive seems to come of it.
  • While there's nothing clearly wrong with JosephLeo contacting the seller and mentioning the hypothetical value of this cart (that might very well be fake after all), I totally understand the criticism over it. It is not just about screwing deals for others, it is also about having some sort of etiquette as a fellow collector. Okay, there's most certainly no harm done in doing so, which means that apparently, there's no real purpose either in doing so, so why doing it? Always showing you're around when top collecting games pop up and engaging discussion with seller with no intent to buy, in brief, being concern about things that you're not interested in buying when they're obviously for sale can be seen as putting your nose everywhere and not minding your own business.

You may have no bad intentions in doing so, it still affect the perception other members here will have of you. We all have some sort of interest for high profile items showing up, this is just normal. But we all need to know when it is better to stay on our seat and watch instead of being uselessly active about it.
  • Alright, alright I get it guys. I'll tone it down a bit.

Just tell me via PM or something, feels weird being shamed in public.

Agreed, and knowing B.A. had posted just before me I would have not posted again about it.

This is really minor criticism, otherwise you're a very fine member.

  • Agreed... all about ettiquette. If I saw a 0.99 NWC Gray listed, I'm not going to immediately message the seller saying "Hey last one sold for $17.5k, you're sitting on a real gem here!"

You let auctions play out and the people interested will do their own research and bid accordingly. I love how the community calls attention to fakes (as it should), but let the bidders do the bidding. There's no reason to be a 3rd wheel.
  • Yeah...I feel it's probably fake or PAL. Says "it's been literally sitting around for years" and wants to get it gone...kinda odd.

...has 2 copies of "Return of the Jedi" for the SNES along with a few other doubles...could just be another flag right there

For anyone who is truly interested talk to the seller and ask for pictures of that SE cart before you put in a bid.

Make sure to pat yourself on the back for that one. Congratulations, you're a cock block. Take a bow.

  • He has had it up on a couple of retro facebook sites and every time someones makes a deal with him he backs out at the last minute.I know who he is as he lives in my town and I was bombarded with questions about it also,as I sell games at a local flea market and have sold him games twice before.I offered to take it apart for him when he got it (which was around Christmas time 2013)so he would know if it was legit. He didnt have the bits to do it,and he was all for it at first, then as Bryan said he started acting funny and then blew me off and blocked me on facebook. Now my personal opinion is that he found out it was fake after he got his bits from ebay, because if I was selling it in a lot and it was real I would spotlight that sucker like no tomorrow with about 8 pics of only it,and make it be known that this game is included. Also if you look at his history of trying to sell things he ends items early all the time and I am suspect about the prices he got on the other sold auctions on his account, as when he started paypal he was asking everyone on facebook how to get them to lift the 21 day hold on money and they told him to get feedback on ebay. If I was a betting man I would say the auction will get ended early.

  • Leo didnt do anything wrong. Just playing a little good cop. If it wasn't for his prior incident, it wouldn't be a thing. We need good cops and bad cops sniffing out bullshit. Fake SEs are getting sickening. Buying high end NES games is worse than designer hand bags!

I've never seen a 3-screw NES game that did not require a security bit.

Pegboy is correct. An authentic SE uses flathead screws not security bits.

  • Good to know. I guess most titles that were available in a 5-screw and a 3 screw have regular screws. Shows how much attention I pay! So that should pretty much settle it...
  • The guy is also buying copies of ducktales, and flintstones, while at the same time he is buy repro labels for ducktales 2,and flintstones surprise at dino peak, seems very shady to me.

It was my post, champ. Glad you didn't flag. Seems a little redundant to flag AND whine.

  • christ on a bike people, stop being a bunch of girls.
  • For anyone paying attention, the entire back is wrong, not just the screws. The label is perfect for such a filthy cart.
  • Seller just posted an update: "This listing may be removed tomorrow afternoon (Saturday 1:30 pm est) due to possible local buyer."

Terrible business ethics (aside from the fake SE). He has bids on it so he is obligated to sell it on eBay.

The front label is not exactly straight either...

As long as there are more than 24 hours left in the auction I believe eBay allows the seller to back out of those obligations.

Oops, sorry, you're right. 12 or more hours sellers are allowed to cancel a listing, but if there are bids they must pay fees. 12 hours or less they cannot cancel if there are bids.

Oi! As a woman, I take offense to this.

On the other hand, this does seem to be a rather circular thread. It's fake, it sucks. Good thing I'm not out to do a complete set of any system, it would be a complete nightmare at this point.

It's a scam and a fake cart. He obviously doesn't care much about ethics. Be on the lookout for sellers with low feedback in the future selling more "rare nes games!" that happen to have fake labels. It's probably him. Someone should forward this scam to the guy selling fake labels, not that he would really care.

Shit like this is one of the main reasons I sold my cart. It's not going to be getting any better, and I just didn't want to be in the market at all, even as a seller down the road.
