LOWBALLER'S AUCTION-RAFFLE (March 2014)

Last month I gave this idea a try and I have listened to everyone's feedback and made improvements to make this month's Lowballer's Auction-Raffle smoother and more straight forward.  That being said, this is NOT a raffle.  Money is only involved with the winner, NO ONE else pays a dime, it's FREE to play every month.  Let's go!

The Rules...

  1. Bid one of the following amounts for the item of the month pictured below.

       $30 = 1 entry (ie, Portabello1)

       $35 = 2 entries (Portabello1, Portabello2) etc etc

       $40 = 3 entries

       $45 = 4 entries

  1. Answer the question of the month in your post (at the bottom).  If your post does not include a bid and a clear answer to the question, then your entry does not count.  No exceptions.

  2. The winner selected by the randomizer (www.randompicker.com) will have 3 days from the end of the auction to pay me their posted bid via PayPal.  If they do not come through, then their entries will be deleted and the randomizer will make another selection.

  3. Shipping is FREE to anyone in the US, an additional $5.00 shipping for Canada and $10.00 for international winners.

  4. One post per member, the auction will close Sunday, March 16, 2014  at 11:59 PM Nintendo Age Universal Time.  Once I post "CLOSED" in the thread, no more entries will be accepted.
How it works...

All eligible members' entries will be put into a randomizer and one will be selected at random.  That lucky member wins the "low-ball" deal with me for the item of the month.  Everyone else owes nothing and can try again next month.   The more you are willing to pay for the item will determine the amount of entries you get, thus improving your odds.   The idea is to have the maximum bid still be a good deal for the auction items.  Please PM me if you have any specific questions regarding the process/legitimacy.

THE "LOWBALLER'S AUCTION-RAFFLE" (March 2014)

The Ren & Stimpy Show: Firedogs  and The Ren & Stimpy Show: Buckaroo$ (SNES) - CARTS ONLY

From my personal collection, carts and labels are in nice shape and include original SNES dust covers.   Both games have been cleaned and tested.  Pricecharting.com values these two at $61.00 total.

March 2014 Bidding Question: (must be included in your post with your bid)...

What is the first video game you can remember playing in your life?

My answer: Some game on an Apple II computer, Mother Goose maybe?  It was really rough looking and I remember thinking a computer was a weird "robot" toy.

Good luck everyone, see you Sunday!

    Legend of Zelda - NES

The first game I remember playing was the first Legend of Zelda at a Sears store. My mom had left me (3-4 at the time) with my brother (5-6 at the time) al alone to play. I started playing and my brother took the controller so I got mad and left to find my Mom. I got lost in the lawnmower section of the store, panicked, and started crying. My Mom freaked out when she went back to get my brother and I wasn't there. My brother had no clue where I had gone because he was sucked into the game. We eventually got reunited thanks to the employee that found me. Despite this traumatic experience Zelda is my favorite gaming franchise.

My first game was certainly Super Mario Bros. I don't actually remember the first time I played it ... probably in a Wal-Mart kiosk or something. I just know my 5-year-old self wanted an NES in a terrible way. We ended up getting one as a family for Christmas and we all played it like crazy. I ended up beating it before both my parents. =)
  • captmorgandrinker - $30 for 1 entry

Might not be the first game(s) I played, but first ones I remember were Lemonade Stand, Oregon Trail, and Piccadilly.

First game i remember playing was Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt was only game i had with my NES for about the first year of having it.
  • coffeewithmrsaturn 2 entries ($35)

I first remember playing Bubble Bobble when my older brothers' had a NES, and I was 4 or 5. I still love that game. For a few years there I wasn't allowed to play on the system by myself, so the NES still has a sort of mystique for me. SNES is where I feel more intimate as that's where I got to have more alone time with the console.
  • I'll go for $30

The first game I ever played was either Missle Command or Pitfall for the Atari 2600. I sucked because I was like 3

My first game I remember playing is Super Mario World for snes. It's my farthest back memory I can remember too. I got it for my birthday and i remember freaking out when I saw the box.
  • Slimgoodbody 2 entries $35

The first game I remember playing was Super Mario Brothers/Duck Hunt with my brother on Christmas morning 1989. My parents got me a NES and ~25 games from a yard sale in our neighborhood and individually wrapped everything, so I had like 30 presents. My brother hooked it up and we played Super Mario Brothers and Duck Hunt together for a few hours before we started in on any other games, I remember being completely in awe that I could shoot a gun at the TV and ducks on the screen would fall. Best Christmas ever.
  • $30 for one entry

First game is definitely Super Mario Bros 2 at my uncles house. I would have been maybe 3 or 4 and the memories are really vague, but I remember being so intrigued by Marios face on that cart. I have many memories around 5, 6, 7 playing Castlevania and Bad Dudes at his house as well, so I know that NES set was the first I ever touched.
  • $30 for one entry.

First game I can remember playing is Hangman on my grandpa's computer. We used to play that, Wheel of Fortune, and something about driving a truck full of oranges across the country before they spoiled haha. I also remember Pac-Man and River Raid on Atari- can't quite remember if that was before the computer games or not.
  • Did my first bid on my phone and my story was not included.

    $30- 1 bid

First game I played was SMB/DH, received on my 5th birthday with the system. I remember coming home from Karate class and my whole family was there to celebrate my birthday. My uncle and aunt (both in college at the time) were already playing my NES when I got home.
  • $30

Mario Bros. or 31 in 1 multicart. I'm pretty sure a freighter full of 31 in 1 carts crashed somewhere just off the Atlantic coast of Canada. I see them almost as often as MB/DH it seems. Anyway, it was probably another game since we had got our NES when I was only about 3 or 4, but those are pretty much the first games I remember playing.
  • $30

It seems like there's a lot of us who played super mario bros as their first game. I'm definitely one of them. My parents still tell me about how I made my dad hook up the NES in our hotel room because we were visiting my grandma at that time. The smell of styrofoam takes me right back there every time. I love this thread just to read everybody's stories.
  • stinkerhubbin - 1 entry for $30

First game I can recall playing was Miner 2049er on the Commodore 64 when I was somewhere around 4 years old. Load "*",8,1

    Loved the C64
  • $30

The first game I can remember playing was hide and seek on the Atari 2600 with my dad. Pretty sure that's what that game was called... I loved that stupid game as a youngster!
  • Entity : 1 entry for $30

I can't quite recall my first game. I have some vague memory of Mario Bros., Rampage, and River City Ransom when I was very young. Before that there was a learning/teaching console thing that I've seen at flea market before and maybe playing Snake on a Unix Sparc Station back when Windows 3.1 was a new thing.
  • ArmoredGecko: 1 entry for $30

The first game I can recall playing was Super Mario Bros. My babysitters daughter had brought her NES over and my brothers and I played it for maybe 30 mins. before she left with it. I recall finding the secret 1-up block and loving the idea of secrets hidden about.
