  • People on ebay bidders especially should always ask for pics of the board, if your gonna shell out this kind of money better be damn sure it's real. With that said any legit seller should always put a picture of the board in the listing.

The sticker on the front looks pretty crooked as well. I have a funny feeling about this copy!!!
  • it looks horrible.
  • Looks fake no background totally a photoshop job. When will people learn
  • Off topic but nintendofan234, i ask myself that same question when i see cart only mario 3 priced at $25-30
  • looks extremely fake. Were those pictures taken in the twilight zone or something?
  • Hard to tell, pics of the board would be nice. and maybe an actual backgroud.

Wouldn't suprise me if it were real though.
  • For some reason, I can't shake the fact that when I first look at this listing
  • Sticker is off on the cart

    Especially with the scratches.

I thought the NWC gold was 'shinier.'

Pretty sure they used Zelda cart shells to make these.

  • Yeah, looks pretty bad. Especially without pics of the guts. That should have been the first picture taken.
  • I messaged him.
  • The sticker could very well be off on a legit copy. It was just slapped on there without much thought. My issue is the guy's facts on the cart. If you are going to pay a lot of money for something, you are going to know what it is. It was not part of NWC and no one bought one for $100k without a sticker. The facts plus the sloppy placement of the sticker cause me to think its not legit.

    Really? Wasn't aware of this.

Wiki says 'cart is gold like Legend of Zelda.'

Other various sites on the internet pretty much say the same thing.

I'd like to know more about this please.

  • Lotz, Im interested to hear what the seller messages back. Or if he does at all
  • If there's no board pics, you have to assume it's fake. It also looks spray painted.
  • No word from him yet.
  • You would think someone selling something worth anywhere from 10K-100K would want to invest in a camera that takes better pictures than a burger king mighty kids meal camera.
  • The sticker is crooked on this copy. There is a known copy out there with a crooked sticker. Don't remember who owns it, but it's possible its a pic of a legit copy. More info would be helpful.
  • Everybody who is bidding on this must be a complete idiot. Sadly it seems like there are a lot of idiots out there that have tons of money -.-
  • Fake hahahaaha
  • "Hello,

Could you please add pics of the circuit board itself? It would certainly drive the price of the cart up, as most folks in gaming forums I've gone to believe this to be a fake. Just thought you should know.

    Thanks!

    -Rob"

If he doesn't post pics of the board after that, he doesn't really intend to sell or it's fake. You'd have to be an idiot to not want more money.

  • I'm no expert but I believe that fake.
  • Of course it's fake. 4 day auction on something like that? Fake.

my recent mistake = i'm an idiot...I learned...ugh. I don't have that much cash tho (damn car project!!!!)

I would love to see if this is a legit board...Anyone with a bid up, esp at 10k, should demand a board pic. If the seller doesn't have one, he needs to get one for the $3 they cost...I just ordered a set due to my recent issue. don't have it yet tho.

Does anyone know officially how many gold NWC's there actually are?

  • 26 were known to be made for 26 Nintendo Power magazine contest winners. One was destroyed in a fire, based on an interview I conducted. 25 left in the world, as far as we know. I have pics of 14, I think.

  • I find the documentation of it wild.....if only i could go back 20 years.... i'd buy every copy of little samson when it was in the value bin, find some of these nwc's, flinstones.....

    brb. time machine
  • Still no response....
  • It could be real. Kinda tough to tell with the lack of quality in the photo. Sorta off topic, but it never seemed like it would be too tough to put a gray NWC in a gold shell, and cut a space for the dip switches...
  • As far as I can tell the dip switches on this cartridge look consistent with any other NWC. I wouldn't put too much stock in the label being a little crooked. With so few of them made, it is very likely that the stickers were applied by hand, which adds the element of human error. The thing that sticks out the most to me is how dull the front of the cartridge looks, compared to the shine present on the back. Also the label looks awfully digitized.
  • Response received:

"I do not know how to take this apart to look at the circuit board as several people have asked but i can assure it is real because it was bought from a very famous collector in Canada named DAN MARESCA who is a legend in the Nintendo world!!!"

Hmm, k. Legend.   Certainly not one of the gold owners I have tracked.

Yeah, the label doesn't bother me as much, as they were hand-applied, but are also known to fall off. I know of one gold where the owner made a new label for his because the original went missing.

I believe the cart in the pics is real, but unsure if they are grabs of anoher known cart photoshopped together.  Usually I can tell from the scrathes and markings of a gold which one it is, but in this case, the cart is positioned so that none of these come through.

EDIT:  Ok, so I got another look at the cart and there are some distinguishing features.  The scuff marks in the bottom left, for instance.    No other cart has these.  The cart where the label was known to fall off is not this one either.  This one could very well be legit, guys.  Or at tleast the cart is, if not the auction.
