Right now I'm only shooting for a cart only collection for NES and Virtual Boy, although I could see myself getting deeper into SNES at some point. I also only collect NTSC and no varients.
I am, and I'm pretty sure albailey is, as well. Though we're miles and miles behind you, Dream, we're getting there. Essentially, Nintendo would have to go out of business and stop making games for us to catch up in a reasonable amount of time. But I don't want that to happen: My counts:
NES almost all CIB - missing some manuals, as well as Stadium Events/Myriad box SNES 600 CIB Virtual Boy all CIB N64 all CIB Game Boy 50 CIB Game Boy Color 200+ CIB Game Boy Advance 50 CIB Nintendo GameCube 100 CIB Nintendo DS= 20 CIB Nintendo Wii- ZERO!
Yeah, my goal is anything Nintendo. However I choose not to have any real focus.
For example, if I see a SNES game I need for $10 and a Gamecube game I need for $5, I'll get the Gamecube game. I really dont have any idea of what is rare for any system except NES.
I also will pick up any unlicensed or PAL item if the price is right.
I'm currently at for north american stuff
NES (missing 5 games, and around 30 boxes not including variants)
SNES: 110 CIB
N64: 66 CIB
Virtual Boy: 1 complete
GB: 127 CIB
GBC: 98 CIB
GBA: 84 CIB
Gamecube: 35 compete
DS: 15 complete
Wii: 100 complete
I think I have all of the "mini classics" as well, or at least the second release of them. I dont have any of the first release ones.
I dont have any Game & Watch stuff. The only tabletop Nintendo item I have is Donkey Kong, and its not boxed.
rarebucky: screw that. Games are meant to be played Everyone knows how I feel about that....
Then why mention it, yet again?
That old argument is such a load of horseshit. You did not buy your stadium events to play it.
Don't get offended by it, I like going through my games and filtering through the manual/box and messing around with them once in awhile. I am comparing it more to a library than a collection, that is my perspective. I have nothing against sealed collectors, I just don't understand the point from a game player's perspective or someone who is all over the place collecting like me...I like CIB stuff, but it is going to be handled if it gets to me....and the reason I mentioned anything in the first place is because rarebucky brought sealed games up, that's the reason.
DreamTR, I already know that you have an amazing Nintendo collection. Do you also have a full Sega set including the Pico games, and did you ever get that True Lies box?
burnambill: I do have all the Sega Stuff CIB including the Blockbuster cart for Genesis, Daytona Netlink for Saturn, etc...and yes, I did get the True Lies Game Gear box, so I'm done with US Game GEar as well...I am missing some Pico stuff, mainly because I have not spent the time looking for it or even considered it much but eventually I will, everything else I have...
CIB Master SYstem (and I think almost all the Brazilian/Euro exclusives minus about 8 games or so and Mah Jong Korean)
I do have more CIB collections, 5200, 7800, 3DO, Colecovision, Intellivision, Vectrex and others CIB too, one of them I'm not trying to collect all of them for but have 95% of them is 2600....
I want to visit Jason's Trade N Games store....I am sure I'd be buying lots of fun stuff there = )
For you Vectrex collectors, I'd love to see your copies of Mr. Boston CIB. My brother and I have been collecting Vectrex stuff (passively) for a while and I've only ever seen one CIB sold at open auction ever, it would be nice to see other examples.
Edit: When I say CIB, I mean with overlay. As far as I know it never had a box, but I've definitely seen at least one overlay.
I can't even imagine collecting full sets of every system, nor would i want to... I can barely afford NES never mind other systems, although I don't have a job so thats probably why...

only reason i could see for collecting every game for every system is it would be cool to open a video game musuem
