  • What the shit? More hurdles?! Tired of eBay.
  • It's so pathetic that ebay is trying to hard to be like amazon. See their new dashboard yet?

Spring Seller Update: New performance standards will affect your status

    Dear (www.videogamedomain.com):

This summer, seller performance standards are being updated to reward those sellers most responsible for keeping buyers on eBay.

Starting with the regularly scheduled monthly seller evaluation on August 20, a new measurement, your transaction defect rate, will replace the current four detailed seller rating requirements used to evaluate your seller performance.

Your defect rate is simply the percentage of your transactions over the most recent evaluation period with one or more of the top predictors that a buyer will leave eBay or purchase less, such as an opened eBay Money Back Guarantee case, a return because the item wasn't as described, or negative or neutral feedback.

Based on the last seller evaluation on February 20, your defect rate is expected to be higher than the 2% maximum allowed for Top Rated Sellers.

Start now on improvements needed to lower your rate so you can regain your Top Rated status after the new requirements take effect August 20.

A low defect rate is important. It indicates that your buyers consistently receive the item they expect, when they expect it. Buyers won't see your defect rate. But in general, the lower your defect rate, the better your position in Best Match search results.

As a Top Rated Seller today, you've shown your commitment to providing great service. We appreciate that and we're here to help. We've arranged for an exclusive, one-on-one session with an eBay Outreach expert who can help get you back to Top Rated status as soon as possible. I encourage you to schedule your appointment today!

yea i started a thread. this blows

  • Guess i missed the thread or I would have responded in there.
  • Nvm looks like you made it after i posted this.

I started it without looking in here. Saw yours afterwords. Thought it was big enough for its own thread.

People who dont sell in large quantities dont really understand the complexity and importance of being a top rated seller on ebay. The best match boost helps so much, and we are talking hundreds of dollars a month at stake for me.

  • Well Its not only you. Your post made it sound like mine was old news which is why I responded as such.

It probably does deserve a thread but once again its something we will have no control over.

I get used to being f'd over by ebay so cant say im surprised.
  • Block this user on Ebay: 5aoiro

They received a GBA game 4 days after payment, and left positive feedback about it. This was all between feb 22nd (purchase date) and Feb 26th (delivered). Then tonight, I get an email that they did a chargeback through their credit card.

I provided all the info to paypal and hopefully they side in my favor, but be weary of this buyer, their feedback makes no mention of anything like this, but I am not taking any chances. I have blocked them.
  • One thing I fail to get with craigslist is how you can make a post on there to peddle something, yet it never displays for public viewing. It shows up off the email link they give you, it's never canceled for violations or other crap, it just doesn't appear. What the hell causes that?

its been flagged. Sometimes instead of removing. It ghosts your ad. So you cant re-up it. Have to get new IP/email/ phone number and make a new one.
  • Despite when I made that as it popped into my mind, it actually showed up like 4-6 hours AFTER I posted it despite the fact it should appear 15min later they claim. It only dawned on me as someone wrote me about an item in my picture bin using the craigslist contact that I hadn't even put up for sale (NES system cover.) This morning I searched the gaming area and it is where it should have been when I posted it in the first place and no it wasn't some cache issue on my side.
  • Ebay user : tajwill13

Im going to paraphrase what this person was saying because the ebonics and language might lead to confusion

Person buys item from me 9:05 pm on friday. Messages me sunday morning asking why her item hasnt shipped. I explain that the usps is closed till monday, and she purchased it after hours and that i pack up everything on sunday night and it is shipped out on monday(the first day possible). She then tells me how ebay shipping day says the 18th tuesday and that its my fault. I explain to her what that day is and how that would be near impossible. But very quicklyresponded and I told her that i will have her package mailed out the next morning on a special post office run so she gets it fast as humanly possible, and i gave her the tracking number etc. that message was sent at 4:30 in the afternoon

This morning it is mailed out at around 8:30. She messages me at 9:30 saying how she wanted a refund and didnt want it. I tell her that the item was shipped out and ill need for her to ship it back when she receives it. I get this back:

"""""no or you can just take it back cause it take more to ship it back i want my money back"

    - tajwill13

    I reply:

"""""I'm sorry, the item was shipped out like I told you. I can't get the item back. I was trying to make sure your item was shipped as fast as possible because you were upset about the shipping estimate. I can't just give you a refund, I don't have the product."""""

    I get this back

"""don't get smart with me i report yo stupid ass""""

    - tajwill13

Needless to say im pretty upset. Its an 80 dollar itrm that i got out faster than anyone could priority mail. It just makes me sick how ebay is more about keeping tgis crappy person more than backing me up because im sure ill be liable for any unnwarranted marks against my account. All of this crap starts because of the idiotic estimated shipping times. Estimated tuesday drlivery when they bought an item friday night at 9pm.

  • eBay seems to assume that you'll ship on a Saturday and make a special trip to the post office for any item.

Had some dude that bought a $5 game and wanted it shipped in a box... I really am starting to hate collectors even though I am one... I've never had a single Genesis game damaged shipping in a bubble mailer and I'll be damned if I'm paying for the extra costs to put a friggin $5 game in a box...
  • I gave on top rated seller for that exact reason. I put 3 day handling just in case something comes up. It has saved my ass so many times. I can't run to the post everyday so it's just a load off my back.

the problem for me is the money loss, and the best match boost gone. That best match doubles sales for me. I really felt it the month I lost it last year, and when they manipulated the criteria last summer. Shipping discounts ebay receives as well that they only give to top rated plus people. Thats hundreds of dollars a month for me. The discounts are pretty large.

Just got off the phone with ebay. Was on the phone with them for 30 minutes talking about all kinds of problems I have with them and just to hear there answers. Nothing can be done, but I got to vent and hear all their stupid solutions that make no sense. She told me when talking about delivery dates and 1 day handling. I gave her an example where I will get something purchased Monday night late and that gives me tuesday to pack it, and its in the mail wendesday. She says that was 2 day handling. I told her if they purchased it at 10 pm Monday I have to get it in the mail by 5pm on Tuesday? I said thats not even a day and I dont think you understand handling time. I have tuesday to handle it. handling time does not mean shipping day. I said since ebay operates on Pacific time people can buy stuff from me at 1:59 am on tuesday morning and it counts on monday for me and I have to have that out same day? Thats not 1 day handling time missy
  • I'll put a game in a box, if they pay for it, or I deem it needs one depending what it is and I'll state that up front in the listing (this will mail in a box because... or this will be shipped in a bubble bag.) I've yet to have a person give me hell over shipping and I guess I'm lucky.

It's sad but you're probably right that ebonics bimbo will get her way despite the fact she got all uppity and rude in every single message then admits to buying something she supposedly didn't want because the USPS mail fairies don't work on Sunday so the stuff had to go out Monday. I'd just for my peace of mind would call ebay and see if they'd at least make her eat the shipping back and cover the feedback revenge as her behavior is out of line. I really feel bad for you as I know you're anything but a dick when doing business as we have once before and you live off this so that top rated drop off is murder.

Why are you so upset?  A neutral is neither good or bad, right?  So it doesn't count against you in anyway, no?

p.s. your bacon is awesome as well

Hey you forgot all about Red Green!

And now back to our regularly scheduled program...I tried to get a F-Zero Maximum Velocty game (which included box/manual but I really just needed the manual) off Amazon.  I purchased from a 3rd party I thought looked trustworthy...but then I got this weird package from Germany; turns out the seller was from Germany and as a result I ended up with the PAL version of the game, which I did not want.  I was also not happy that there was nowhere anywhere that said it was a foreign seller (which I would never buy from unless I had no choice because I don't want to risk paying gobs of extra money for return shipping if anything went wrong) and since I was just charged the standard $4 shipping, that too didn't give me any reason it was coming from anywhere but the US.

Anyway, the seller communicated with me really weird like and wanted me to do some weird stuff but with the help of several Amazon chats and such I was able to get refunded for the game and Amazon reinbursed me for the return shipping (which was almost what the game itself amounted to!).  Seller then was a total smart ass and told me to just throw the game in the trash...dude it's called be upfront and honest about things.

Then a few years ago I bought both Zelda N64 games off Feebay...unfortunately the seller just threw the games in a cardboard envelope with no protection and the Majoras Mask game arrived with the corner badly cracked/broken.  Seller tells me to send the MM game back for a refund, and I send the OoT game (which somehow arrived undamaged) to another dealer to get a new battery put in.  Seller later changes his mind and insists that he must have both games and I tell him (and later Feebay) that it's simply not possible anymore as I had already sent the good OoT game to get a new battery.  Feebay ruled against me and I was out the cost of the MM game.  You better believe though I let him have it in his feedback.

Seriously, whatever happened to service with a smile?  Whatever happened to the [honest, non-abusive] customer is always right?

It does count against me :/ Amazon has high seller standards and has like a whole rating system which has neutral as a negative towards your score. Oh well, I just got really good feed back so it balanced out

  • I hit a nice BIN that I was happy about last night:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/271428507066?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

Today I got this and noticed they had already relisted and sold it again for $20...

Hello, I hope you have received your message from paypal. I have issued a FULL refund. This listing must have been posted in error. This could have been a previous lot that was accidentally reposted or simply one that my husband was not suppose to list. I do not have this game in my sale stock. Please accept my greatest apologies. Your refund has already been sent. So so sorry.

dont accept a cancellation. make them atleast work for it and have to call ebay.  was it posted for awhile though? Cause I swear to you when posting sometimes Ill click submit and itll glitch and change my amount taking off the first number. Did it twice last saturday. Takes like 10-15 minutes for stupid ebay to upload where I can see the listing, but in the meantime buyers can see it faster because it had like 5 views already before I could edit it to what it was supposed to be. And No i did not accidently put the wrong amount on it. I put 25.99 and it took off the 2 and had 5.99. Happened with 2 listings in a 30 minute span that I had to anxiously wait to fix till it uploaded before it was bought. Yet if that happened ebay would hold me accountable im sure. Their stupid posting software and site glitches all the time.

I bought the game last night and they sold it again 10 minutes after they sent me that message saying it was out of stock and they don't have it
  • So I won this, for less than my max bid.  I was excited because I thought it would go for more.

Yes the auction picture is sideways too. (and they spelled Sega Genesis Wrong) (Sega Genisis)

    I pay right away.

2 days later I message the seller and ask if there is any shipping information available.

    I get this message.

    Dear evrhrt13,

did you get my previous message saying they shouldn't have sold for that cheap? my reserv price must have glitched out i diddnt want anything less than 150 there's 47 games and most of them have boxes and there are alot of rare games as well im not sure what to do but there definitely not worth wat you bought them for im sorry

    - buymystuffplease901

They never had any type of reserve price, all of their listings were open auctions.

I tell them, Refund me immediately and you can save a negative.  That was 4 days ago.  I have already called ebay to report them as a non-selling seller, and I opened my item not received case today.  They are not a brand new seller, so Paypal would have not put a hold on the funds.

I asked ebay if they can speed up the refund, since I have two messages from the seller asking for more money for the items.  Nope, I have to wait 3 more days to escalate the case.  She did say that they seller may be receiving information that would make them want to just ship me the items, but a fat lot of good that did.

Dickhead seller, that is not how ebay works.  They had a chance for us to part ways without much ruckus, but no more.  I think I will actually leave my first negative feedback over my 14 years on ebay soon.

what an idiot.....ugh if you want 150 start the auction there . there is no way you can say a reserve glitched out. what an excuse making sack of shit
  • Frankly, I'd give them a negative anyways. Fuck this guy.
  • I never did understand the idea of having a secret reserve anyway. Wouldn't it be easier for everyone to just make your starting bid (that's true for both Feebay and traditional auctions) whatever your reserve would've been?
  • Yeah but that would show actual thought being involved in the process. Ever since ebay stupidly dropped the insertion fees which brought on a lot of problems it made sense to have it, but now where you can start it at anything there's no point. My reserve is my starting price these days and the BIN now that it's 30% over I put on there but it almost never happens unless it's only within like $5 of the start because of that new greedy gap(was 10%.)
  • So, I couldn't find a convenient time to meet this guy to buy a junk lot from him, and this is his response:

(preface: he said he needs the money to pay a fine or he's going to jail)

Him: "Me going to jail over you fucking with my head is more important then your damn weekend. You wasted my entire fucking day you pos. The last day I have to see my family and friends, you had me thinking I'm going to be able to pay off my fines and shit and then you take it right back. You know what? Fuck you"

Me: "Don't do things to put yourself in jail. Thanks for the kind words."

Him: "I got truancy for getting a job while being in school so I can help support my family. I'm sorry not all of us are fortunate enough to own a business and go away for weekends like your dumbass. You make me sick, I wish I knew where you lived I'd come there beat your fucking ass and beat you over the damn head wit a Sega"

Me: "No wonder you're going to jail with a temper like that. If I hear another word from you, I call the police, and then your jail term is longer. Goodbye."

Him: "Call the cops you fucking snitch! It's freedom of speech"

    /end

Damn! Bad temper much. Guy definitely needs some time alone with bigger fellas to teach him a little thing called respect. From the looks of it he will be there very, very soon.
