This showed up yesterday:

And here is the listing: http://m.ebay.com/itm/191097736371

Yup, Mike Ditka proto, clear as day, full week auction. I had a huge snipe, but was amazed no one else bid this one up. But it just goes to show that deals can still be found!

Comments

  • Yep. I was working and forgot to bid it up.
  • Nice man! Thats a crazy score.
  • Wow. How did you find this? What search did you put in?
  • Nice find!
  • Seen it as well, was kinda interested but variants aren't my cup 'o tea.

    Congrats on the pickup man
  • Gloryhole!
  • Awesome score man!I'm sure this made your day

How'd you spot this? What was in your search criteria

    I'm betting "Rare Nes Game"

Yeah I'm not sure about clear as day, no proto, promo, prototype, etc. listing in the title or description.  Clear from the photo but a casual search would have missed it.

Good find regardless, but that would explain the "cheap" end price.

  • Wow, awesome find Mark!
  • Nice!

I was watching the Nolan Ryan's Baseball SNES Proto they had and saw this, but it didn't jump out to me as anything special
  • Wow, that's pretty surprising!
  • Good job man, you do good work on getting these things and the rest so if anyone deserves a price break once in a while I'd think it should be you. Amazing it wasn't bid up, but also it never does say prototype on it so those searching (demo, proto, prototype, unreleased) would have never hit it.

I'm not a football fan but I am curious if it's a solid game or not against what else was out at the time as 1990 doesn't seem like a prime year to be canceling games yet.
  • Sweet baby Jesus!
  • Doubt he's gonna give up his search criteria, fellas. Why invite the competition?
  • YOU won that?!

....meh. Went to a better collector. Congrats.
  • this rocks, and nice find!

This is kind of a strange one, since it kind of "has" been released by NGD although in edited form.

do you guys plan on dumping it?
  • So many companies involved in one little ol' game.

Accolade, Pony Canyon, Natsume- possibly the NFL and Mike Ditka's holding companies.

  • Great job, sometimes preservation comes cheap!
  • That was weird that the initial listing was for an Earthbound cart. Did that factor into the end price?

I'm sure somewhere there is a sports proto collector just in tears.
  • nice find, congrats =)

We'll certainly be dumping and releasing this one for free within the next few months.  I didn't know that an unaltered rom had yet to be leaked, but we'll take care of that soon.

We've got an insane about of reproductions in the works at the moment spanning multiple platforms (Genesis, SNES, NES, and Famicom), so we'll probably release this rom alongside one of our next sales to help drum up interest and spread the wealth.  Along with these paid releases, we have another 4-5 roms that will be released completely free from the get go just like Ditka.

We've got a really exciting year ahead of us.
