Genesis Pack-Ins List

  • Best of the Best has a poster
  • Alright, time to revise this thread and get cracking!

I'm working on getting access to the google doc in the first post so that I can edit and keep things up to date. Let's all get a 100% CIB collection, wooo!
  • Question: Does anyone have Gargoyles with a VHS advertisement? I do not think it came with one. I think the Gargoyles VHS advertisement was packed into another Disney game, but not actually the Gargoyles one.

I ask because it is included on the Google doc and I don't think it should be.

This is similar to the Double Dragon V poster that came with Troy Aikman being used with Double Dragon V just because it says "Double Dragon V" on it.

Just want to make sure we do as best as we can on this list without opening sealed games.
  • It was actually packed with Lion King, but I generally keep it in with my Gargoyles box. You're right - it should go with the correct game.
  • Okay, that's what I thought. I've changed it.

Gargoyles does have a unique registration card though, which I have also added. I unfortunately don't think I have that reg card, so I may have to wait to get nice pictures of it'

    It can be seen here:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gargoyles-Sega-Genesis-1995-COMPLETE-SET-Box-Manual-Booklet-Game-Playing-OK-/181377165980?pt=Video_Games_Games&hash=item2a3aebea9c
  • It's in the database:

    http://segaage.com/index.cfm?FuseAction=Element.View&pId=140&egID=62436&lgID=62436&sID=62436

Probably should move the VHS sheet from there. I have all my scans and photos in Dropbox as well if you want to make an alternate storage location. Shoot me a PM if you'd like access to the folder.
  • Okay, I'll link to the reg card from the database, perfect.

The VHS sheet should be moved to Lion King.

In the Google Spreadsheet, is there any way to link to include two different hyperlinks in one cell?

I would like to link to both the front and back scans of an item (reg card, poster, etc) in a single cell, instead of two adjacent cells in the same row. One idea was to type Poster (Front/Back) then have the "Front" link to one image and the "Back" link to another, but I don't think that's possible.

Any ideas on a work around?
  • Unfortunately, no. The Google Spreadsheet doesn't allow as much customization as an Excel one does. My work around was just to make two cells.

    Here's the official documentation:

  • The list says Battletoads had a poster. I have never seen this. Can anyone verify their's has a poster? Or better yet provide a picture
  • This is the poster that is referring to:

Of course, whether it came with the game or not, that should be confirmed.

    Mike,

Did you get this from ebay ?  The one on ebay says it came from a gameboy game.

So is there a poster that exists with Sega stuff on it ?  There is no way Sega would let TradeWest Pack in a poster advertising for Nintendo with a Sega Game Gear or Genesis Game.

  • Yeah. There is no way that could be for the Genny game with exclusively Nintendo games and the big N seal of approval.
  • Yeah, that is a Nintendo poster. Look at the bottom left corner of the poster. That was packed in with a Nintendo product not the Sega Genesis one. I am removing it from the list until I receive better information.

[Edit]: Spaceflea beat me to it. Anyway, still removing it for now.
  • I am also calling into question that Mortal Kombat poster listed. The image that it links to mentions both Sega and Nintendo products. I have also never seen it.

I am going to remove it from the spreadsheet.

If anyone wants to prove me wrong I can add it back.

I don't think I have ever witnessed a Mortal Kombat Sega Poster.  (Packed in with the 1st game)

This is the Super Nintendo Version ( I remember it from when I got it in 5th grade, but have never seen a Sega one similar)

  • Alright, well I've gone through most of the Genesis Pack-In thread and checked it for irregularities. There are some I still need to verify (mostly for sports games).

I am working on a much much more expansive spreadsheet. Its almost done, I just need to add in the contents from my own collection then I'll start a new thread to unveil it to everyone.
  • The list says Mortal Kombat 3 had a poster?

I have never seen it. Does anyone have evidence to back it up?
  • The list also says that Road Rash 3 had a players guide offer included - does anyone have a picture of it?
  • OK, I have two copies of Buck Rogers. Copy #1 came with the manual, but no extra paraphernalia. Copy #2 doesn't have the manual, but came with an EA promo poster ("get the best" with #820365 in the corner), a hint line promo card (#820370 in the corner), and a registration card (#820317-4).

I've tried combining the contents of both, which seemed like a logical way to make a single, very complete copy...but once everything's in there, with that super-thick manual, it makes the clamshell so full that it won't stay closed.

Did all those things really come with Buck Rogers, or are some of the extras with copy #2 spurious? Was the game so jam-packed at retail that when you opened the shrinkwrap, all the paper contents came spilling out? Or was some of it outside the shrinkwrap or something?

Titles from EA Games came with a lot of inserts.

    This should be correct:

Thanks for the info on it - using the above eBay listing and your post I've added it to my spreadsheet:

  • Nice, glad to help, and serendipitous that that Ebay auction lines up so perfectly!

BTW I can also contribute data on ATP Tour Championship Tennis at some point -- I had a sealed copy that I opened last year (IIRC), so everything should still be there.
  • ^Perfect, thank you. I also have a sealed copy of ATP Tour Championship, but I hadn't planned on opening it. Either post in the thread or PM me with details and I'll add it to my spreadsheet.
