So here's what's really odd. I have dude's cell phone number still, and he actually text me back. He sent the photos with the jagged label cart, and a photo of the board. Or of an NES board I should say. What do you guys think?
For anyone paying attention, the entire back is wrong, not just the screws. The label is perfect for such a filthy cart.
The front label is not exactly straight either...
I'm no expert, but that caught my eye immediately. The left hand side of the front of the label looks really crooked complared to the little edge where the label sits. It may be a real board, but I would say that label looks pretty terrible from the pics posted in the auction.
Problem with the board pic is how clear it is compared to his other pics. I bet that pic is online somewhere and he hijacked it.I reported his auction just because he stated he was selling it away from ebay possibly and would cancel the auction. He has since put another revision that another person no showed and it was still for auction, until he may get another offer. This is against ebays rules and should be reported by more people,to get this guys account locked.
I agree it is a fake with the evidence posted, and you'd have to be crazy to bid on that without seeing the board. Unless of course the price was so low that you'd make a killing just reselling the rest anyway.
But yes I agree, what good is there in messaging the seller and telling him he's got a $3500 cart? If this were legit, that's just the same as being a tattle-tale. You basically set a floor for the price and screw anyone out of getting a good deal.
If you had legitimate interest, you'd say something like "Hi, I'm interested in the SE, but it is a valuable cart and I must verify it's authenticity. Can you please post pictures of the board?" That way you can still have a shot and getting it for a halfway decent price. (If it were real, this is probably fake.)
But telling him it is worth $3500 is either is just ruining any potential deal for anyone.
Once again, hypothetical argument here, cart should be considered fake until proven otherwise.
Gotta agree. If you aren't interested in buying, let the ones who are interested ask that question. However, I think we think that all collectors know to open the cart and look at the board. I guarantee you this auction would have sold for the exact same with or without board pics. It only takes two people to have an auction, and I'm sure it would have resulted in the same price.
In saying that, with the research done, I'm sure this is 100% fake.
A board pic without reference is worthless. Something else identifiable needs to be in the pic with the board. An example of what I did when I bought Stadium Events from a random guy on the internet that didn't have a screwdriver(yes it was a small philips and not a gamebit) was I colored the hand of the screwdriver red, then sent it to him and had him include it in the picture. There should be a piece of paper with a name, or some random agreed upon trinket with the board pic, otherwise the person will just steal a board pic from the net if they are trying to fake it. At first glance the chip serial number is right. I'll do some more investigating.
The authenticity of this one is obvious, he's posting special pictures of SE and SE being played, yet no internal pics. Heck, even the pic of SE being played looks familiar.
He knows what he has is fake and is doing a terrible job of trying to pass it as "here's just a bunch of games duders".
Problem with the board pic is how clear it is compared to his other pics. Yeah I thought that too. But the background does look the same as the jagged-label closeup. I really think that if the serials match that this dude has a fake and a real SE, but it is tough to say. I did ask him to write his eBay name on a piece of paper next to the board and clearly that did not happen. The winner of this auction will likely not get a real SE. I would say bid only if you are close enough to do a local pick up.
Seller just posted an update: "This listing may be removed tomorrow afternoon (Saturday 1:30 pm est) due to possible local buyer."
Terrible business ethics (aside from the fake SE). He has bids on it so he is obligated to sell it on eBay.
As long as there are more than 24 hours left in the auction I believe eBay allows the seller to back out of those obligations.
"This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available."
I told you he would end it early he will now put up that stuff in different lots and more than llikly end them early too if it dont get up high priced.
Not to bump a dead thread, but just saw this thread.
I immediately messaged the seller and asked him about details about the item etc. I explained I was local and could look at in person. At first, he slightly replied back and pretended to be shocked by the value of Stadium Events (he had received a lot of messages about it and I asked if I could come see it in person and verify it as authentic). I then explained I had heard about the cart through the Facebook rarity group, zero reply at all after that...
Very odd situation, I agree he may have had an authentic one at one point and sold it and then saw dollar signs and tried to pull one over on everyone. Thankfully, everyone is cautious these days and it appears nobody was scammed.

I'm sure you read through the thread. He has all those games and consoles and totally "missed" on one of the rarest games out there? I don't think so. So many scams out there now with reseals, repo labels and repo manuals it's tough trusting people now.
Honestly, I don't believe you on that. Every high dollar item that gets posted, it seems you contact the seller. Why?
What's this leading into? Other than the incident in my early collecting history I've been good.
And why the heck not, here's the verbatim of the question I asked him.
Dear southtownhero82,
Hey there, just for your information.
You have the rarest NES game on the planet in that lot, so you're about to get hit with a lot of questions.
The game I'm talking about Stadium Events.
If you don't get pictures of the insides up and better pictures of the cover and everything then you're likely going to get flagged by the collector's community and have this listing removed.
If you can, please open up the back of the cartridge (don't worry, you wont break it) and take pictures of the circuit board on the inside with a piece of paper with your ebay name on the picture.
That game is worth at least $3,500 *if* it's a real Stadium Events.
Happy selling!

Obviously I didn't get a response....but still there's no ill intent in that message.
I honestly hate it when you try to pin me against the wall like this. You obviously have some kind of distaste against me ever since my HoS incident and besides the HoS incident....what have I done so wrong in your eyes? Maybe the SKULLDEATH9000 thing? But me and him came to terms so it can't be that. In fact, I remember me and you were actually kinda okay with each other too since then.
Regarding your question though. High end items are fun to talk about and there *is* a big reward for faking them. I sure as hell want to talk to the current owner and find any bit of info I can about it. I don't care if DreamTR listed his personal NWC Gold up for sale. I need information that proves legitimacy or else I'm marking it as high-risk and will inform him that it's so.
At this point, and after having read the entire thread, I feel the need to kick this horse because it just won't die.
JosephLeo, you have repeatedly done this type of thing, even after having earned yourself an hos badge. This shit sucks, man. No one in this community can make a deal on ebay without you slithering into the mix and involving yourself in matters that do not concern you.
You request that we contact you via pm with these messages, but you continue to cause very public problems.
This community and any new members fothcoming deserve to know via public forum that any attempt they make to deal in high end game related goods may very well involve you without them being aware of it.
I would highly recommend you avoid inserting yourself into transactions you have no intension of making serious offers. Your message to the seller was extremely stupid in the event the game was real and useless given the fact that it was fake.
For everyone else, beware, JosephLeo is watching and any transaction you may have on ebay is subject to his sabotage in one way or another.

I guess if that actually is an SE board than the dude might actually have a legit one to go with the fake one that the winning bidder will receive.
Hilarious. My thoughts as well
Turned me off immediately.
