  • Honestly CUSTOM NES GUY (Jayrod2 on YouTube) is the best thing going right now when it comes to having systems customized. I don't know how willing he is to share his secrets, but he'd definitely be a person of interest.
  • I agree with Arse. I got one too and they are sweetness. I bet if you asked nicely he might give you a couple pointers. I can tell you from speaking with him that there is ALOT more work than it looks like to make one though.
  • i think im going to go about preping and use automotive grade materials and paint and put something out

one thing id like to do is make it very smooth on the top. NESs are so grainy and textured on top its either going to take some polishing or sanding to smooth it out.
  • Tony he does some seriously awesome work.  I stated in your intro thread that I love the PS2 Punsiher I saw in your intro pic.  I am die hard Punisher fan... I have 6 comics long boxes full of every reference and appearance, everything Punisher related.  Not to mention all the figures and other stuff I have odds and ends of.  BUt I bought his Punisher NES and it is fantastic!  Red Glowing eyes, hands down one of the coolest things in my collection and other than the Punisher NES game the only other real crossover item.  I know I have posted these pics before as they are from when the X-Mas tree was still up but it was before you were on here in case you haven't seen the custom NES I got from him.

  • Do you have the Punisher Jamma board?
  • Braveheart has a cat!! Awesome.
  • Erik, that second picture is my new desktop. I heart you.
  • well i started working on the paint job

the lower half and the stripe/vent part over the top is going to remain silver and has already been clear coated, thats why it looks a little darker. with the rest of the top half im going to make it as perl white as i possibly can and then add a Blue led power light. i didnt have any whate paint or masking tape on hand so were going shopping today lol

im still a little conflicted on the blue power buttons. idk if i should redo them to match the silver?

and i wish there was a decal or something to mimic the nintendo emblem on the door. i think i might look for a very small NINTENDO oval decal to mask off the silver when i paint the top white

a mix between the wii color scheme and an update off the classis 2-tone original colors was my inspriation

i think im going to have to do a controller and maybe a light gun to match now...

  • That Punisher NES looks really kick ass.image
  • not to knock on it but i just got this idea after looking at the punisher nes. the vent area and the parts next to it on the top half remind me of the punisher's belt, which in the classic comic costume made up the teeth of the punisher's skull. in the future, if someone does a punisher NES in the future id like to see how it would turn out if the skull went sideways and incorperated some of the vent into the teeth.

  • Did you get the top smoothed off? The smoother you get the top the shinier it will be but that is also limited to the quality of paint. There is absolutely nothing I have ever seen that comes out of a rattle can that can amount to an automotive grade paint though. Sanding that grainy texture off takes alot of time. My hands usually hurt when Im done. What kind/brand of paints are those?
  • i sanded the top down with 400 grit paper, its not perfect but the white paint went on thick and when it dried it pretty much smoothed its self out. definatly not the quality of stuff your doing but sitting on the shelf next to the TV it pretty much look awesome lol. definatly not the quality of stuff your doing but its far from some of the runny, drippy messive seen before. i do alot of model cars with off the shelf spray paints and have a little bit of expierence in that respect

the silver and clear are both $1 cans from walmart i had sitting around and the white is rattle can rustoleum which isnt going to get cleared. rustoleum doesnt seem to play well with other products

after looking at it i decided i didnt like the silver vents and just did the whole top in silver

  • Man I learned how to use automotive paint on model cars when I was around 10. Sometimes the paint was so strong it would melt the plastic. I won some model car contests back in the day. It was funny because I was so young and there were all these really older guys who spent forever on there models and I whooped em all. The judges would always be amazed at the paint job. I always paint over 500 grit unless its a metallic then I use 600 grit. That one looks clean.
  • ha, i guess you can see some of my models in the back there

the trophy with the flames on it was won by my real life muscle car though image
  • What kind of car? I have got see some pics of that!
I have won quite a few trophys with my car. Even won some money once for best engine. I dont go to many car shows anymore though. It seems like there becoming extinct -
