He also has zero feedback. Definitely a red flag.

Best of luck, keep us informed on what happened.
  • Never underestimate the power of Dick Akron.
  • It definitely was a red flag, but I also know how tight eBay/Paypal are with new users these days. They often don't let you have any of the money in Paypal until the buyer is satisfied. His only chance was me closing the case based on the tracking information. I have the money back already too, celebrating with some hard cider tonight. That and some NBA I posted in the HOS, I have his Paypal name/info which he might not try to use again, but I can provide it if it's appropriate to whoever. It wasn't Dick Akron but it was def a funky/made up name. Thanks for joining me for the journey, oh ye of finders and keepers.
  • ^^^ Definitely the same guy that got me, except my tracking actually says "Delivered", but from what I've gathered from other people and ebay's reps, the proof that it is a 1 oz package with no return address ect. is enough to win in our favor as our packages would clearly be much larger than that. Also Seems like he makes a Brand new Ebay name for each individual sale.

Looks like we have the same mindset though. Even though he was a new user with 0 feedback, it was worth the gamble seeing how strong ebay's buyer protection is. I just personally wasn't expecting him being able to fabricate fake Tracking numbers. It's too much of a coincidence that both of these 1 oz packages can not be found anywhere. He seems to have found a way to get the tracking to progress despite there being no actual package.
  • It's weird, because in your case it was actually delivered (though maybe your post office messed up). In mine, there was no return address or shipping address. The post office gave me the scan, which I sent to eBay. But yeah, prob was the same guy. I didn't believe it at first because I have such low confidence in my awful post office It's weird that yours would say delivered. I would try to get a scan from the post office of what the label looks like.

I didn't get it at first, but he sent it blank, it went through via zip code, and was out for delivery, but it wasn't going to be delivered to anyone blank. He really has to hope that I close the case once I get the tracking info, or he's basically screwed. I was persistent and on the phone all day w/multiple eBay people and USPS people. Money in hand. GG. I will say that eBay was way more helpful and professional than they EVER have been in the past. Kinda impressed with that.

  • Oh so you got your money back?

This guy seems to have some kind of in at the post office. It's quite remarkable. Potentially the best scammer ever if people aren't willing to do a little investigation or close the case too fast.
  • Ouch. Really sucks there's people who even attempt to scam like this on eBay. Can't these scammers get in trouble with the law if eBay hands over their info to the authorities or does eBay just ban them or something?
  • I'm a complete lurker on the forums (this is my first post), but I noticed that the ebay user has the exact same auction relisted:

Seems kind of unlikely that the exact package that was supposed to be delivered to you today is already up on auction again; maybe it should be reported.

You joined april 21 with 0 feedback but I wouldn't say it raises a red flag, new users join sites all the time. In fact if he had joined in 2008 and had 0 feedback then I would be worried it was a hacked account.
  • lstewart89 thanks for pointing this out. reporting to eBay immediately. they're kinda dropping the ball on this one letting him repost it after he just tried to scam me damn man. hope we can get it in time.
  • I reported it to eBay and msg'd the customer service people that were helping me, but he's already sold the lot again Damn it!
  • This asshole put a huge extended handling time on it so he at least ties this guy's money up for 2+ weeks. Wish I could do more to stop him :/
  • If it's too good to be true, it usually is. Sorry you had to deal with this asshat. I hope feeBay doesn't let this clown run-off with this new listing...
  • About time ebay has stepped up their buyer's protection.

  • Looks like he got banned?
  • He should be banned..eBay also needs to ban is ISP so he doesn't keep creating bad Screen Names.
  • Looks like user that got me (Most likely the same guy) has also been banned. I noticed this morning he was no longer a registered user so I called Ebay, since my case with him is still open and i became concerned and they told me he was a threat to other Ebay members and they have removed him. I wonder if they did a ISP wide ban if multiple accounts on his end have been deleted
