Found a NES in the wild with two extra ports.

Firstly Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this. Mods let me know and I'll edit or delete this post as necessary.

I found this in the wild today and I had no idea what this could be for. I opened the NES and cleaned her up and took some photos. Unfortunetly The soldering fell apart before I got a chance to try it. But the NES works perfectly. The caps are soldered directly underneath the rp2 chip. Does any body have any Idea what this could be for?

  • ugh that is ugly.

    true stereo out?
  • Yea, it definitely is sloppy. Maybe that's why iv e never seen any one like it before
  • What it looks like to me is a really, really bad digital output for a screen in a car...it doesn't look like it was done remotely right and probably never worked. If it was hooked into a built in GPS screen it explains the blue and white on the wires...
  • Looks like it is connected the audio pins on the CPU. So either they went for dual mono or maybe the audio circuit that was original to the NES had failed and they made a replacement.
  • It looks like a bad attempt at stereo output. I'd desolder that crap. It also looks like someone ran out of heat shrink and terminals. I love how that exposed copper is grounded to the board.
  • Thanks for the answers guys. I took the wires off and closed her up. She plays great. Thanks again!
