Meet our NES-icom
Has anyone here ever done one of these or even seen them? Aside from ours, my husband has only ever seen one, which gave him the idea to do ours. It has since been RGB modded. He's actually considering making another one, if we were to ever get a really good trade for it. It's hard to place a value on it, but he figures it's at least $400-500. RGB modded NES consoles for for $300 normally.

And here's a quick rundown of the pics that show what he did for the initial mod(before he added RGB):

We've never bought a modded console, though. All of our mods, he does himself. He's done RGB mods on our A/V Famicom, NES toploader, NES toaster, PC Engine Duo-R, N64 and restored S-video and RGB to our two Model 2 SNES consoles. And he's done S-video mods on the Genesis, TG16, MSX, Master System. And region mods to 1 of our model 1 SNES, 1 of the model 2 SNES, PC Engine Duo-R, and PS1.
I think that covers most of his mods. Too many to remember and I'm not as knowledgeable on it all, haha. It's been his new hobby over the last 3 years or so. Can't wait til we get out of this apartment and buy a house so he can have plenty of space for his own little work area!
Then when I got one in my house...OMG...sooo worth it.
Enjoy

It has been finished and all put back together since this pic. It's nice having the ability to play famicom games on the NES.

I can't say I've ever seen an HDMI toploader.

I did the same to mine a while back:

That looks fantastic.
How much did that cost you? (If you don't mind my asking)
It actually cost me nothing, just my own time.

lol, so a better question then. How much would your time cost me, after shipping?

I've never been interested in aesthetic mods, but I'll admit that looks nice. I've always preferred keeping the console as close to original looking as possible.

Yeah, I scanned that thread. Still can't say it's worth it over RGB and even after all the RGB mods, we still play on CRT more than anything. But I could see my husband trying this for the hell of it, eventually.
