  • i completely forget about universal game cases. if they can do it, then maybe making long boxes isn't as crazy as i thought.

does anybody know the actual supplier of these? i looked online, but all i am getting are sites just selling them.

i think it would be cool if somebody made miniature long boxes to fit genesis manuals and the cart. kind of like a novelty item. how fucking cute would that be?
  • Hey

Like I said I have been trying with no luck. If anyone has more luck let me know I would go halfs.

    thanks

    Jim
  • so you're saying you have contacted the dudes that make universal game cases?
  • Yes I have... hopefully something is in the works.. waiting for sample.
  • I hope so too, if I have to keep buying sports games to get cases it is going to sad work.

sample, as in you got something pressed and waiting to receive it to inspect the quality?
  • Hey

What would be a fair price to sell these?

As for sample I am trying to see the costs with a supplier. I will keep all posted.
  • 1 dollar!

but the price all depends on what is invested into it. obviously, the more money spent making them, the higher you will have to charge. and if the price is too high, nobody will buy them. if the price is too low, they will sell like hotcakes.

Its all over the board.  Ive seen them as high as $8 a piece for new ones on ebay but thats pointless when you can just pick up your run of the mill sports game for $5 or less.  about 2 years ago I got 2 boxes of 20 each.  one for $32 and one for $41.  Wish I could find a package like that again but it will most likely never happen.
  • If it helps to keep the cost down, just the outer case without the inner part would be great

True, you do get broken teeth on the inner part now and again but having just the outer case (with the necessary clips to snap the inner tray in place) would be great!
  • I dug up this thread while trying to find out if there is a seller of good condition Saturn cases. Did you guys ever find one?
  • There is a seller on eBay that has been posting new cases - somewhere between 4 and 6. They usually sell for 30+ plus shipping at auction. They aren't newly made cases, but cases from sealed games. I'm guessing the seller has a shit ton of NOS because he/she has been doing this for some time now.

But nobody has stepped up to make new cases. It seems like it would be a big gamble.

Could I have the seller's name?

    Here it is.

  • I know this is an older post but I'm calling around to see if we can get these reproduced, anyone see a patent number on the cases?
  • The best way to get this done is to find a factory in China that will make the molds for a few grand and then do a short run of a few thousand cases. It's very risky though and probably requires going to the factory to make sure you aren't getting scammed. The quality might be questionable.

Another option is to just custom cast the cases yourself. I've never done any casting of clear plastics like a jewel case (not sure what kind of resin would work), but I've done some basic urethane casting and it's not too difficult if you invest a few hundred dollars in a good setup with a pressure pot. The downside is that resin is very expensive and the cases are big, so the cost would most likely exceed what you can find used cases for.

    1. It's very risky.

    2. Requires going to China.

    3. Possibility of being scammed, and

    4. Questionable Quality.
This sounds like the way to go, ha ha.

EDIT: Seriously though, there doesn't seem to be any other sources out there for these so if one wanted to risk it, it may be worth while.
