Megaman 9 press kit update 1/21/09

This was just posted on the Unity forums 2 days ago by a Capcom rep.  It was great to see this, so pay close attention to your email box to see if you get a order confirmation, and post here if you do.  The way it sounds they should have all of them shipped out by mid to late Feb. image  Our patience has finally paid off!

"Good news! We finally got more Mega Man 9 Press Kits. We still don't
have enough to fill the remaining backorders but a good chunk will be
shipping out to you in about a week. If all goes well we anticipate
completing all backorders within a month.

Thank
you all for being so patient. Some of you may need to wait a little
longer but we are doing our best to make certain that everyone who got
an order confirmation gets a press kit.

Your enthusiasm for
this item was overwhelming and will ensure that we continue to dream up
crazy ways of showing how much we appreciate the loyalty of our fans."

  • thanks for the update!
  • all this waiting has definitely taken the shine off the apple for me :/ I guess it will still be cool to have but I wish they'd handled it better
  • I still think this is a little absurd. Big company taking this long to make things right. I'll believe it when I see it. I wonder how long it took the first batch to be made. Probably 2 months. At the most.
  • I wonder how many will be in the release total. Has anyone put forth a real number of the orders they're trying to fill?
  • I have almost put together a fully CIB in less time than this, and I not a multi-million dollar corporation. I agree with Bronty on this, a little disappointed.

  • Yea, no official count on how many were made, and probably never will be. I'm sure Capcom is just looking forward to getting this over with so they don't get so many damn emails.
  • Jason - to be fair, when you're making a CIB game you're not milling out an NES cartridge and turning it into a jewel case.

This is true, but they also have an entire company and could easily hire a minion for a few days work to do the job.

  • One would think they could call up the local machine shop and get it done. But I haven't seen the mechanism they're using, so it's entirely possible that it takes an inordinate amount of time for the modification. It's not like it was designed by an engineer, or any other person with a concept of efficient manufacturing processes image

Also, I'm just guessing here...but I doubt this is a priority for Capcom. More likely it was the pet project of a couple of people who got approval from higher up and now have to deal with the mess they've created themselves.

From what i've heard there was 1 many 2 people that work on them, and that is in their spare time.
  • Yeah, if a couple of guys are milling these out with Dremel tools in their spare time, even this long a turn-around is pretty impressive.
  • Good news.

I agree that CAPCOM took too long to answer the prayers from rockman fans but it's understandable the amount of time to produce something that they haven't done since the mid 90's.

I wanna get another pack, i had to pay 350 usd for the one i have image.
