Nintendo DS Lite power repair question?

Hey everyone,

I recently purchased a few Nintendo DS Lite consoles and they are all having a strange power issue.  I am hoping someone with a history of console repair or modding has seen this issue and can clue me into the issue and, if possible, how to repair it.

When you plug in the unit, it displays the orange charging light like normal.

When you try to turn it on, the green light turns on, the bottom screen flashes white, then it just turns off!

I have put a new battery in the unit and the same problem is occuring.

No matter how much I charge it, the same thing occurs so I assume there is some short or something.

Any and all advice or guesses are welcome as I would love to be able to fix these!

Thanks in advance... I appreciate any help from this fine community

  • That problem is caused by a bad connection to the upper screen.
  • Is it something that can be fixed... like re-seated or is it not worth the effort?
  • The top screen ribbon cable might not be connected properly, or the ribbon cable/top screen might just be broken. Most of the systems I've had with this problem needed a new top screen.
