Super Mario Bros REDUX
First off, I'd like to give a shoutout to NA user Aaendi for the inspiration of doing this post! This has been something I've been working on for quite some time, a side project for pushing those pretty little pixels within NES restrictions if you will.

The main reference comes from the tile graphics of New! Super Mario Bros. Wii. I also took some visual notes from a few Kirby games, which also served as a guideline for creating the tileset. However, for the sprites, the Mario & Luigi series serves as my template.
As always for NES graphics are its limitations, because trying to articulate a sound placement of a narrow set of colors artistically feasible through color theory puts a lot of straing on the brain.

Thank you! These are intended to be put on an SMB/SMB3 .rom. I did see a few Super Mario Bros. 1/3 hacks-- especially 3Mix. That's a fun ROM hack.

Thanks! I never thought about the connection with Super Mario World... but then again, SMW did have those rounded mountain pillars as well.

It's mainly just a tileset study. I am looking into doing a graphics hack for Super Mario Bros 3, or 3Mix. I just need a tile editor or tile viewer for the ROM so I can put in the custom graphics.

It's a small step. I started using SMB3 Workshop. I wish you can arrange each individual tile, though... I also didn't know that those gree pipes had 4 frames, so there's one frame where it shows the custom pipe graphics that I did and the rest show the originals. I'll post a short clip or animation of it shortly.

Yeah, there might be a few tiles that animate (I think the Bullet Bill cannon might be too, I can't remember) No biggie, just make all tiles the same.
