NES ROMS

What is a good place to find NES Roms?  Does anyone know a good, safe site that has most/all of them?  Or, better yet, can anyone put them on a CD or something and send them to me?  Thanks for the help guys!

He has numerous console roms, scroll down the page and you'll see.

  • ^I love that website.Got all the emulaors for my PSP Slim on there.
  • I've been using this one for ages and ages, since I started collecting and that's a long time ago.
  • There are some good torrents out there. You should be able to find Nestopia bundled with roms for pretty much every game.
  • Are we allowed to talk about this openly due to the legal issues with emulation? I don't wanna chime in unless before I know otherwise...
  • Shit! Busted by the hall monitor. image
  • Crap, maybe I should add something to the effect of "If you are a cop, don't read this thread."  image
  • lol, I'm not trying to be the party pooper, but I've seen people banned and/or reprimanded on other sites for openly discussing their rom sources.

You can find ANYTHING (software, movies, music, videos, etc.) on the net for "free" if you look hard enough. As for roms, it shouldn't take more than a few minutes of googling topics like "emulators" "NES Roms" and so on to find a good match.
  • Jonas - it's not illegal to talk about it.
  • PM Sent with link
  • This site has everything  image

Or for the completely legal way get a USB CopyNES and dump your games to your computer.  Downloaded ROMs are illegal even if you have the cart, unless you made the backup yourself.
  • Is there a way someone could tell whether you dumped them yourself or downloaded them?
  • Nope, its all digital so your dump will be the same as everyone else. You would have a problem if you downloaded the wrong dump, like if you owned the original cart but had the ROM of a REV A version. Not saying Nintendo would be likely to go after anyone for downloading NES ROMs, just important to know the actual laws.
  • ^^ So how does that relate to repos?
  • ??

If anybody ever cared to prosecute, it would be an open and shut case against anyone making reproductions. Obviously it's illegal.
  • okay I have a CD that has 750 Roms on it. some hacks some never released games. I dont have a burner anymore. ide be happy to send it to you and you could make a copy and send it back.. Also its not illegal to own a rom if you own the actual game. So for alot of people on here they are Backups.

That's the point that bunnyboy made.  It actually IS illegal to own the ROM, even if you own the game unless you were the person to create the ROM in the first place.

That's exactly what I just said was incorrect  image  See the copyright law, section 117, only the owner can make a legal backup/archive, and that backup/archive can only be transfered along with the original item.  If you downloaded the ROM you transfered it without getting the original item used to make it.  Again not likely to ever matter but good to know the truth.
  • I really dont see the differnce But yes you are right. I also dont think its a big deal especially if you own the same program. so likr I said MRN the offer still stands

  • We just don't like publicly linking to such sites, for a number of reasons. Thanks for keeping it to PM, if at all, guys. And thanks for respecting the site! I appreciate that it wasn't a big problem with you all.

Maybe we (the admins) are just being paranoid, and it's 100% fine to have a big fat boldface link on the top of every page to these files. But we'd rather not be associated with mass-download ROMs, either as a source, a link to a source, or an advocate of the practice.

Anyways, just our decision and we're sticking to it image
