Found a picture of this GameBoy Color, correct? It's said to be Korokoro comic No. 250 Memorial Game Boy Color. Not sure of all the details but the asking price is beyond reasonable with zero info provided.
  • Geez jaxs. you make me jealous xD

    Nothing special about the back.

  • Pretty sure this is on a Jap auction site, I've seem these photos a couple of times. As Jaxsbox said though, the asking price is insane.

Agreed. I've seen this on yahoo auctions Japan. I think they were asking 200,000 yen which converted would be a little under 2 grand. Way overpriced. Maybe somewhere in the $500-$600 range would be more realistic.

Do you have a site link with more info on this GBC? In my searches I have come up with nothing confirming this handheld. If there was an event and a handheld given away themed after Pikachu Poke fans would have info on it.
  • No, the pikachu heads are not painted on.

No, i cannot take a picture it was on an auction site and i think its sold, sorry

not sure though it was a jaapanese auction site

It ended yesterday and relisted again. This has been on auction for a long time now with no bites. Next to no info provided in auction and have yet to see it confirmed by anyone else.

  • Some basic Google-ing shows this isn't the only one to exist.

This, if the seller would put legitimate info on there I would be interested I have messaged him several times with no response so I would rather not risk it.
  • To be honest, even if it is completely legit, I don't think there is any Gameboy in the world that commands a 2 thousand dollar price tag.

My japanese reading skills aren't great....

but I think he was basically saying "I love this gameboy "Korokoro comic No. 250 Memorial" edition. I bought it a few years ago from a bookstore in my neighborhood, but I wonder if it was originally a sweepstakes prize from the magazine (comic) article?

"toka" is sort of a filler to bridge thoughts. The awkward translation makes "Toka" seem like a proper noun or some entity haha (it's also out of place in that sentence).

He also mainly talks about the Picross 2 which he got and how it still saves and his current progress on beating the puzzles

    Actually it's a bookstore chain.

I just figured if I were to put "Book Off" people that aren't familiar with the bookstore would still think it was just some kind of translation mistake.

Pretty much what everyone else has found is all there really is on this. I'm guessing this had such a low distribution number because it was distributed through some sort of sweepstakes. It could probably even be a one off. Who knows. I would compare this to that of the original gameboy kirby edition or the wario edition. It's probably just something that someone made for a little event, not officially licensed by nintendo or anything.

The fact that it's Japanese really dosnt help lol. I guess I have something a bit like this too, it's a Gamrboy Colour thats clear green on the front and a solid cream colour on the back, it has "20th anniversary" on the front of it. It's just painted on there either, really seems like the other official nintendo sort of decals. Some things are just weird basically.

  • Bit of thread necromancy here, but I've found an answer.

It was the prize from a raffle held by a magazine called "CoroCoro" in Japan. They only gave away 250 of them, as far as I can see. So they are not a official Nintendo release of course.

Aparently they also did a clear green GBC with the picachu pokeball from the pinball games on it.
  • Super late in commenting on this post but this gameboy was released as a raffle indeed and limited to 250 units. Indeed one of the rarest ones out there however not an official nintendo release. Hope this helps everyone.
  • Didn't see 8 bit reduxs post, but yeah the clear green pokemon pinball was even more limited to 200 units.
