Replacement NES/SNES security screws

Hey guys!

So I'm looking for a place that sells replacement security screws for the NES/SNES cart shells.

Some googling found that I thought DK oldies.com had something, but it was the for control deck.

This website has some, but I dont wanna drop 2/3$ one one cart.  Hell, If I wanted to do that, I'd go raid the 2/3$ titles from the game stores and get 2-3 times as many lol.

Anyone have a spot where I could possibly find some replacements?  I'm ok with Philips head screws, since those were used for 5 screw nes carts.  If I need some for snes carts (because who wants to see a phillips head screw on the front of an snes cart?!) I could take some security bits from some of the cheapo games in my largish nes collection and replace those with something else.

Thanks!

  • ive never hrard of replacing the nes screws lol. i would just get some small phillips head screws to use. i look around the net but couldnt find replacement screws.
  • Not that I'm replacing the originals lol.

I'm replacing lost ones.  I took apart a number of shells for label removal, and of course the baggy I had the screws in went missing.  I blame my wife lol.
  • Just take some screws from other games that you have. When you find the baggy, then put the screws in the games that you borrowed from. I'm sure they'll turn up.
  • You'll have to get phillips heads to replace them. I've never seen the screws for sale. I'm sure you can get them, just not where.

There used to be several Nintendo "repair" site like Nintendo Doctor but I'm not sure how up to date they are.
  • Im sure you could go to a hardware store and find some small screws that would work
  • I wish I could remember the seller who had some up on Ebay many moons ago... He/she had them in a little baggie and sold them as a lot. I go to look for them now, and all I can find is either the bits or the console screws. :\

You could just take a bunch of the middle screws out of your games and use them.
  • I did find a few places online but the prices are absurd. 1 dollar per screw seemed to be average. Really, just get phillips head and don't look back.
  • All of my 5 screw carts have flathead or Common screws. What are these phillips head screws you guys are talking about

    Take a closer look.

    **forehead to palm**

Doh! Yea I realize that now they're flatheads.  Its been a while since I took apart a 5 screw cart lol.

Anyone know a good place off hand to pick something like that up though?

I'll try doing some more in depth looking later tonight.
  • radio shack or home depot maybe?  actually nvm go to a computer repair store ask to look though their screws they might have what your looking for.  i work at one we have tons of screws  and im not talking emlpoyess either lol

I'm refering to replacement screws, not what's in there now or in any cart ever. Tiny phillips screws are easy to find. Flat head would work as well though. I'd never pay more for original look fasteners, but then again one day people will look at that.

  • Nes I'm not as worried about. Those are pretty much hidden. SNES are the ones that I would feel need need something that looks right since they are right there in your face as you look at the cart
  • Ive got a bag of about 300 nintendo security screws, but sadly they are the system ones. So if you need any of those.
  • Just buy up some dead or worthless carts to use for parts?
