I think I get a defect now because the person just didnt simply message me first. Got a similar e-mail yesterday upgrading 16 of mine. I was 5.0 across the board, so wondering what I got dinged on and when. In any case, I still have a BS defect for a shipping inquiry and my percentage for shipping within handling time is permanently dinged because I got a returned package (insufficient address) and silly me, I reprinted through eBay. They won't fix it. Assholes.

I got the same message. Its just smoke man. They are counting obvious things that should have been removed anyway or something I called and got reversed already. Ive had a couple fraud buyers they cancelled count as defects. Im sure they are counting those and pretend they are helping me out.
If you sold on ebay for a job and actually read up on them regularly and listen to the town halls and people in charge and how they respond to their customers youd have a different view of them. They are fucking evil.
I've read a few of their town halls and some of the responses are just atrocious. There's a reason I've went and pulled all my stuff down and haven't relisted anything.
Will still stick around to throw up occasional auction, but I'm all but done selling there.
My biggest gripe with sellers on Amazon is that almost nobody knows how to "grade" a video game condition. I mean, okay, you don't need to give it an exact point grade but there is a HUGE difference between "acceptable" and "like new" yet many sellers put "like new" or "very good" with NO pics supplied or even a detailed description. I used to order on Amazon exclusively for a few years and I kept buying "like new" games that I would receive in garbage condition. I've even gotten some nasty emails when I asked for a refund and called them out on their false advertising. So about a year ago I switched exclusively to eBay and haven't had this problem since, since I only buy when the games have good pictures. I tried Amazon again recently and yet again got a crappy copy of a game listed as "like new". I can't be the only one who's experienced this.
I usually hold out of a decent description or a good price before buying anything on Amazon, though on the plus side if you buy something not-to-expensive from one of the mom-and-pop type storefronts (comic book shop, bookseller, dvd seller), they'll often give a partial refund for significant material differences. I've had this happen a few times when purchasing a new book with a major fold in the back cover and a dvd that had a "like new" surface but unfortunately had that dodgy age discoloration. Even on the best of days you gotta watch out for people slipping factory seconds and reseals in the mix too.

Ebay on some buyer accounts are putting big blue buttons where it use to say leave feedback. Now it says return this item. They are programming it in buyers minds to start anything with a defect opening case. Of course on seller accounts like mine i still get "leave feedback"

She actually had the nerve to say that they encourage buyers to contact sellers directly. I say then how does opening up a return request which counts as a defect help encourage communication? She says it is the communication. I say then there is no incentive for me to work out anything. I said then why does it say on the return request that I have 7 days or this affects my seller level if buyer chooses to let ebay step in. UMMM it automatically affects my seller level immediately. Ebay is lying. This is all part of the fall seller update implemented. And guess what right when it starts boooom 2 defects. Defect rate has doubled in 2.5 days. This is also why they said sellers dont have to opt in to automated returns in the holidays for top rated seller, because it doesnt fucking matter with this new return request defect system where you either pay return shipping automatically or refund without return. You get 2 options and a defect regardless of working a different solution out and them closing the request..
That rep got an earful. So much cursing. So much yelling. Somebody was going to take it. I dont care that she doesnt set policy for the company, she atleast gets to hear how she works for an evil fucking company

I think the seller was a complete ass to begin with selling something he knew wasnt in the box and just expecting the buyer to deal with it. Your communications are all saved on eBay's servers file a paypal dispute and get your money back, I wouldnt waist much time with someone like this.
I hate no-shows. Selling my Xbox 360 Rock Band stuff, guitars, drums, mic and 2 games for $10. Missing breakaway cables. Agreed with a buyer last night on a local Buy/Sell/Trade to meet up at a local store for the transaction. Get there, waited for 30 min. No messages back, no indication she's running behind, nothing. We both live in the same small town, so traffic would be a non-issue. Pretty irritated now. May be a small town, but still wasted gas getting to the meeting spot and wasted my time.
10 dollars? thats a great deal. That stuff is worth more than you think. The stuff is a PITA to ship so a local sale I understand but the stuff is worth way more than that as long as its working and good shape. if the drums have cymbols even better.

Exactly, I have given up hope on this heap of shit. Have started to let all listings expired, with very little chance of listing again because Ebay has sucked all the drive out of ever selling on their site again.

Yeah, I don't get why eBay and Paypal keep making things harder and harder for sellers in extending claim and return policies and not allowing the negative feedback for sellers to leave for buyers. I feel like if they keep it up nobody is going to want to sell and eBay will only be good for cheap crap from China with those high volume sellers...

It's almost like they are so focused on making money that they forget that sellers are the ones that make it for them rather than the buyers! Currently it seems that Ebay is trying to make it a more buyer-friendly marketplace by cracking down on sellers, when in reality, because ebay doesn't sell anything itself, they are pushing out their money stream! It's like they forgot that they make money off of the sellers rather than the buyers so by making it easier for the buyers and tougher on the sellers, they're crapping where they want to eat.

No they didn't! And I told them I wanted a refunded immediately after they told me they knowingly sent me an empty box. I'm doing everything I can not to just be a complete ass lol Its harder than I thought though
I got a $10 CIB GBA game today and there wasn't a game in it. I emailed the seller and he said he knew and he still sent it to me.. I asked him if I'm being punk'd but he still didn't respond. We'll see I guess lol
I don't understand how you let the game get separated from the box in the first place or not even check before boxing it up or not notice the weight difference! Inexcusable...

I think the seller was a complete ass to begin with selling something he knew wasnt in the box and just expecting the buyer to deal with it. Your communications are all saved on eBay's servers file a paypal dispute and get your money back, I wouldnt waist much time with someone like this.

I just dont answer them anymore. I get 10 a day. If its a fair offer Ill reply with a " Thats a very fair offer, but Im not accepting offers currently. Thanks for looking though"
I have to control my anger on ebay. Mainly I use up all of it against ebay themselves. I have none left or very little in reserve for people that defect my account.
