  • Pics of the board would be useful. If there are any wires, it's fake
  • Here's a few lnks to authentic pcb's of Hagane and Earthbound:

    Hagane

    Earthbound

  • i dont have the tool to open the game can you guys tell me what i need to buy exactly? im having problems uploading pics to the site but what scares me is that earthbound says its made in usa in the cover but the back says made in mexico while hagane says its made in mexico on both the cover and back.
  • thank you for the fast the responses guys. i definately found the right site to verify these. hopefully we'll find out soon!

This is what I use to open my carts:  Screwdriver Set

I believe that someone here that sells a set as well as cleaning supplies, but I can't remember the name of the member.  Maybe someone else can help me remember.  If you're worried about the labels, just google to find a few pictures of legit cartridges.

Hagane should have the Made in Mexico Labels on both front and back. Feel free to PM me and send pictures and I can verify for you.
  • ill post pics of the board soon guys after i purchase a screwdriver but in the meantime here are some photos of the games.
  • Both looking good. I'd imagine the back was swapped on Earthbound though. I'll look closer after work.
  • Take extremely close up pics of that Hagane front label. It looks a little crooked.
  • I hope you scored on these, that being said I'd recommend in the future to you and everyone to Always open carts that you spend high end cash on, Especially on craigslist. It's shocking how few people on this board still spend tons of cash thinking they scored only to find out they've been had when all they have to do is slow down, think, and use a $2.00 screwdriver bit. Buy a bit, that's the only way you'll know 100% for sure.  Best of luck.

++ Any rare or expensive game being offered on CL already has two strikes against it in my eyes. If you don't open the cart before buying, you're seriously gambling your hard earned cash.

To the OP: You won't know for sure until you open the carts up, but comparing your Hagane to my Hagane, I'm inclined to think you got a genuine copy. The factory code of '40' on the back label matches my copy. I don't think there are any scammers with a great enough attention to detail to fake the correct factory number.

  • Hopefully I can find a screw at Walmart after work so I finally see if these are real or not. I paid $700 for the pair. Earthbound came with the big box, tray, and guide but hagane was just the cartridge only. I thought these would be legit so I took the gamble.
  • Th ank you for all th e responses guys. If these are real I'm definitely going back to the seller since he has more rare snes games.
  • People really think that crooked badly placed Hagane label looks legit? Is that just more proof SNES sux?
  • I'm with BunnyBoy, those labels don't look right. It's not cut properly and is crooked as well, perhaps to hide the fact. The label is larger on the right side by a fair margin, no way that's a factory label. Notice how the label doesn't line up either top or bottom but is actually crooked in both directions.

That's happens when you apply them by hand and stretch them to remove an air bubble. I've done it myself on repro carts.

Walmart won't have them, snag a bit offline and Don't buy anything else from this dude til you're sure.  Once you (hopefully) find out they're legit, go nuts!
  • will do! thank you for the kind words! yeah walmart didnt have them and everything else is closed so ill check a few other stores in the morning
  • I just order the screw on amazon. It'll be another week before I can a even look inside these games :/
  • Do you live near a retro game store? They may carry the bits for sale or let you use the one they have on hand.
  • If the Earthbound was CIB, I'd guess there are pretty good odds at least that one is real.
  • Made in mexico labels don't look that shiny. Sometimes people put "repro" labels on real carts though. I'd open them up to be sure.

edit: anyone that's asking more than garage sale/flea market prices(which could be up to 10 or 15 each) but way less than market(say, if you got these for 50-100 dollars each) is probably selling fake carts. The fact that they're asking more than the typical flat rates means they know it isn't your average cart, and only in select cases would someone ask that much less than market if they knew what they had. That is, if they had real carts.
  • Was it a local meetup Craigslist, or did they ship them to you?

If they were shipped, that's another red flag.
  • It was a local meet up. I'm pretty scared/stress right now. I should of done a little research before I bought them. I'll have my tools either later today or monday.
  • here it is and i think its real?
