Gamecube Wavebird not communicating

So, i have had two Wavebird controllers for my gamecube for quite some time, but i came across a good deal on a platinum Wavebird controller only.  I picked it up, took it home, and was happy to see it fire up when fed a pair of AA batteries.  However, all attempts at getting it ti register with either of the two recievers i have.  Is there some sort of recalibration im overlooking (yes, i made sure the wavebird and the reciever were on the same number on the dial).

Is the controller just shot, or do i still have a chance?

EDIT:  added a new issue, see post #4

  • Sometimes I have had luck with changing up the order in which I turn things on, like turn the system off and have the controller already on when the system turns back on. And vice versa. It has worked sometimes when I had a problem getting a signal. Good luck man!
  • This happens a lot with Wavebirds. The easiest fix is to turn the controller off (don't turn the console off), change both the controller and receiver to a different channel (don't unplug the receiver), turn the controller on.

You may also want to try fresh batteries if you continuously have problems.
  • the switching channels thing worked, thanks guys!!

Now, to find one more receiver....
  • instead of starting a new thread, i figured i would re-use this one

i packed up all my goods, moved into a new house, just got the whole game room set up. it's been months.

today i decided i wanted to give Gamecube a spin, i grab my trusty platinum wavebird, i notice the switch was left on.

i swap in some fresh Duracells, and still no light on the controller. when i flip the switch back and forth, i notice that the light will flicker for a moment. I've tried a few sets of batteries, just to be sure.

    So, whats my problem now??

Check for battery leakage?  (Either white crusty or clear gel-like looking stuff)
