nes pink screen

i am getting a pink screen when i try to load games......i have tore apart about 15 consoles in the past couple of weeks and seem to know what i am doing......i have unclipped the 10 pin to stop blinks....cleaned the board contacts with metal cleaner....bent the pins and still get a pink screen....to rule out a bad connector i put a good one in and still having the same problem along with taking the connector that originally came with it and put in another and it works perfectly......sad thing is i have brought old rusty grimy consoles back to life but this is one of the cleanest ive seen and still cant get it to work....help please

  • hmmm... clean the main motherboard connector with super fine steel wool (0000) then wipe it with a paper towel with windex on it. then brush the board with a paint brush to assure all the metal particals are off the board. if thats doesnt work you either have bad ram or a short in the board possibly.
  • what actually is the motherboard connector?

  • ive cleaned that with metal cleaner
  • I had an issue just like this with a pretty minty NES. I ended up gutting and replacing the internals with a not so minty one I had lying around. I've also had this issue with a 2600 and an Intellivison II. Some systems may just be fried from being played during an electric storm when a power outage occured. They may still fire up, but don't do much else.

I've also had this same issue with 2 NES carts and a number of 2600 ones over the years. It's my guess that the game was being played when the system got fried. So the person packed it all up and gave it to a goodwill or something.
  • It is easy to troubleshoot for the NES. There are only a few things that can be wrong with it.

Clean the motherboard connectors. Clean the 72 pin connector. Clean the games. If something is still wrong try disabling the lockout chip. But that chip is really only responsible for blinking and resets.

If you do all that and it still doesn't work you may have a connection on the motherboard cut somewhere. All you can do for that is use some conductive ink pens or a try to solder but really if the motherboard has a break somewhere in its circuits you are pretty boned.

If you are lucky enough to own or have access to a control deck test cartridge, you can run it and it will tell you if your chips are broken or not. It troubleshoots the motherboard.

Beyond that.... Buy a new one man.
  • yeah, if you cant fix it get a junk one off ebay and swap the case out there its good to go. or you can have some fun like convert it to a dvd or blu ray player like i did
