nintendo 64 jumper pack issue

i bought 3 nintendo 64s on an impulse buy and was aware that they may not work....scared money doesnt make any money though so needless to say they all work but i had to pull the jumper packs out and clean with alcohol and a qtip for them to work.....now every so often when i test them i have to resort to doing the same thing.....is this just a problem because they might be dirty and need to take them apart and clean or is this a symptom of a bad jumper pack? should have my bits in the mail tomorrow so im going to be opening them up and doing a full cleaning on them since they arent in the best shape!

  • Toothbrush(Bent at a 90 degree angle), alcohol, clean the puns in the system for the jumper pack and the cart area.
  • try steel wool 0000 super fine. take the cotton off a q tip and twist the steel wool on the end (you must have paper Q tip to do this)

put some windex or alhohol on the tip and wipe the pins with it. now take anather q tip and clean it out as metal particals are left behind. make sure its clean and dry.

if that doesnt work just get your self an expansion pak. if that still doesnt work either the slot is very dirty or your n64 is faulty

this is just a symptom of dirty system ... once you get the connectors thoroughly cleaned (jumper pak, jumper pak connector, n64 connector) your problems will go away (tooth brush and some rubbing alcohol ... you'll just need to go over it a few different times to make sure it's all good .. and if you can open the jumper pak ... take a it apart and use weiman's stove top cleaner on the connector (i usually apply this with a wash cloth) ... only resort to scraping the connectors (steel wool / nail file / etc) if they won't work any other way ... it's a hail mary if you will
