This week I decided I wanted to build the death star. Started Wednesday Night
First off this thing is divided into 4 boxes. So many bags of each number. All the bag 1s and like 20+ minifigs took forever to find and sort
Sitting one 3 Hours
Sitting 2 4.5 more hours
Sitting 3 6.5 more hours (started to get serious lol)
Sitting 4 short afternoon 2.5 hours (got the very tedious laser gear setup and 180 piece laser alone done.
Final Sitting. Determined to finsih 5.5 hours
So a total of 22 hours. This is one big 3803 piece lego. Was really fun to build. It was only frustrating that they made so many bags the same number in a box so you had to open all of them covering the table making it take awhile to find the pieces. Usually I dont divide out the colors when building because there rarely is too many at once, but Id recommend it for this. This thing has a lot of cool features.
I love my Death Star. How was assembling the laser beam? I could barely get mine
I too just finished a lego Deathstar, it is way cooler in person. Don't think of it as a single set but as large set of vignettes. I also got an older model Star Destroyer to go with it as well as a Bwing. The London Bridge was another recent grab.
How long did it take you johnny. I didnt rush or anything. Just casually built the thing. It took me 22 hours lol. 4 long sittings and 1 short. The thing is gigantic.
I dont have an actually time, but the length of LOTR extended editions and Hobbit Extended. That counts a total flub I had on the second level. I didnt notice it until I took the pic and then had to go back and redo it. I placed part of the middle level over 1 stud and had to reconstruct it.
Can we talk about the manual for a minute, holy crap...
That looks great Johnny, thats a weekend worth of building on your counter.
Who else is ordering the UCS Slave 1? I'm gonna be up first thing on Jan 1 trying to get one before they sell out.
a weekend? maybe just the death star lol. That bridge and the star destroyer and the b wing. Mostly huge sets. Thats atleast a weeks worth for a busy adult. For me thats probably 2 weeks worth lol.

That manual was actually a big pain to constantly have to lift and flip a page. Took up lots of table space. I assume the LOTR trilogy extended and hobbit are somewhere around 15-17 hours of movie.
After doing some research on this lot, I have the figures for about 25 sets. I am no for certain at least 17 sets are present. I think most should be complete or near complete. I paid a bit $250 and an hour long drive each way but I think I got value.

When you finish sorting them, if you're planning on selling some, send me a PM.
Thats cool, I would have loved to have Star Wars sets when I was a kid. I used to build little snowmobiles and a track in the snow when it snowed here. When it thawed out there would be chunks of Lego in little piles in the yard.

I did them as a photo contest, I'm going to try to find the rest of the pictures from it. Most of my Legos are boxed up currently
I watched the Lego movie this weekend, pretty funny. I hate Will Ferrel but he was tolerable in this movie, the rest of the casting was pretty good, Will Arnett as Batman was great. I really liked the characters too, Benny was definitely my favourite, so much so that I bought his spaceship set and put it together, such a throwback to the sets from the 80's. Sadly, the main glass piece that covers the cockpit has a pretty big scratch in it, bit of an eyesore.
Anyone here on lego forums of any kind? I did a quick search and there was a few of them but none looked that active, what's the big one to join?

Brickset.com has a very active forum. Great reference site for Lego as well.
The Lego shop has series 12 figures on sale for $3. I really hate that they charge $4 for them now, so it's a good time to stock up on them before that series is gone for good.
I was up for a few hours after midnight PST waiting for the Slave 1 to come available on the Lego store, didn't happen. Went to bed, got up, check it again, sold out.
Fuuuuuck me. I ordered one, says it will ship next month.

They have been pretty good about fulfilling back-orders on desireable items.
Similar thing happened with the ExoSuit Cuusoo set.
(and at least based on their catalog it looks like they've restocked the Ghostbusters Ecto 1 and still have the Simpson's House which I expected to sell out pretty quickly)

Well it's not a limited release, so i'd have a few years really to get one, but I just wanted to get one right away.
Brand new item, and while I expected it to be popular, they shouldn't sell out of stock within a few hours on the first day of release.
Here's my updated minifigs. I went to Walmart and they had like half a box of Simpsons figures, and someone had gone through and labeled them all, so I grabbed the last 5 I needed and finished the set. Got 10/16 of series 13, and a pile of series 12 in the mail.
