Everyone is crazy at Shopgoodwill.com

Trust me! Something is going on with the people who bid there. Check out some of these insane prices: http://www.shopgoodwill.com/listings/listByCat.asp?catID=33&ending=Items

  • Yeah it's been ridiculous there for a few years now. I gave up a long time ago.
  • Probably the same people that frequent Facebook sale pages. Just the other day, someone had and Atari 2600, 2 controllers, paddles, and about 12 very common games (Yar's Revenge was probably the best title) and he had $75 obo stating he didn't know the value. Next thing you know, people are posting for him not to just accept any offer because he basically has a gold mine and collectors will go nuts for that stuff and will through the nose for it. One lady even said that she was purposely hanging on to her 3 systems and 400+ games because she knows that they are going to get a ton of money for it (meaning like 1000s). People are just plain stupid.
  • I've probably won over 250 shopgoodwill.com auctions over the years and I quit looking about 6 months ago. Prices are insane everywhere and I'm thoroughly enjoying my no reserve liquidation.
  • I have never bought anything on shopgoodwill.com simply because I don't want to deal with goodwill shipping my items. Not only that, but their prices seem to be decent at best.
  • The price for shipping kills!
  • I've bid on a few things there over the years but never come close to winning anything. Stuff has always gone for way too much, to the point where I just assume everything is shill bid up. Even if that's not the case, it's effectively the same situation.

Just for kicks I looked at the loose DK cart they have ending today. starting bid of $10 (no takers yet). Shipping and handling is $15 alone, and that's to me nearby in California. That's just retarded.

Indeed.  The quality of the packaging can also break your heart.  I've been there.  On the other hand, there are still deals to be had.  Things tend to fall through the cracks on goodwill more so than ebay,  you just have to be willing to buy for any console.  The last thing i bought on goodwill 6 months ago i snagged for 110 shipped. Sold it on ebay a few weeks later for 300 shipped.  Keep a wide eye opened and you can score every now and then on that site.

  • Everyone is crazy everywhere.
  • Not crazy, just coordinated shill bidding with no repercussions.
  • Here's a little tip. You can actually sort it to only show the auctions from Goodwills near your house. If you win an auction, you can just drive and pick it up, even though they still charge a handling fee (because Goodwill is evil).
  • price(s) at the store(s) also have gone up too =0/

    LOL!
  • Also if you do bid, make sure the auction ships via usps and not ups. I bought a megaman for around $30 and the shipping is half the cost of the game!
  • You think shopgoodwill is bad you should visit eBay!
  • I just looked at a random gameboy auction on there for a play it loud clear system in the case, and it was from the goodwill right down the road from me. Explains why I never find anything at goodwill anymore, they put everything in that same website. Pointless to even go in their stores anymore.
  • Thrift stores in general are hit or miss... I don't bother with looking at Goodwill or SA anymore. I have had awesome luck in the chain pawn shops (Cash America & EZ Pawn) & get rougly 80% of the stuff I stick on my eBay from them.
  • I thought I was gonna grab a good lot with Mighty Final Fight, Gargoyles quest 2 and a few others. Looked pretty hidden, and price spiked at the end to almost what its worth. Very upsetting :\. I do go there time to time but very rarely.
  • Another thing to keep in mind is if the stuff will work. Systems are sold as-is, no returns, and untested. Sometimes it's complete BS, I bought a didj from there, it's a portable system. Toss in some AAs and it's good to go. But nope, they didn't bother, and it doesn't work. Same with my coleco I got from there, 90% sure it's the power switch on it I need to change out sometime, was thinking I put the PSU on a multimeter and got power.
