Wow guys, I didn't know that a mail carrier could be such a lazy ass fucker in the States. Maybe it's because we usually have less mail activity, but here in Canada a parcel carrier who doesn't show up at the door would be probably fired at first customer's complaint. It just doesn't make sense at all.
My mail carrier is a great guy. Since I live in an older neighborhood (started at the turn of the 20th century) very few people have street-side mailboxes.
The guy carries letters and packages to everyone's door, and must walk 10 miles a day during his route.
He is definitely NOT a "lazy ass fucker".
Good to know there's some great mail carrier too. I believe the old neighborhood might have something to do with this.
I just realized something while reading through this thread. It seems that in the US, the same mail carrier do all the job in a determinated area. You receive ALL your package from the same mail carrier? Where I live, I know that a bunch of mail carrier work in the same area, I personally receive my packages from about 5 -6 different mail carrier.
My mail carrier used to try to jam packages in my mailbox at first. I called the P.O. and complained twice and I havent had a problem since. You guys with all those problems need to complain a little more. I personally wouldnt tolerate that.
I figured all mail carriers were paid by the route/volume since paying a driver/delivery guy by the hour is a retarded business proposition.
Then you have a city carrier for sure then. Rural carriers don't have ot wear uniforms or anything, and dirve personal vehicles that are modified. All rural carriers are paid based on a once a year mail count (which is actually going on right now). The get paid for every stop, letter, and package they pick/deliver.
All the city carriers are stricly based on hourly wage, and have a set time they are supposed to get back by each day based on volume. ~~NGD

Yup. Any place that I've been has a dedicated mail carrier who only has a substitute when he's on vacation or sick.
Same here as well except our carrier has every other tuesday off
