What does NA think of this?

First off, sorry if I should have posted this in the Help section. I found some auctions of ebay and think the seller is kinda doing somethign fishy, let me know what you think. He clearly states that he has just put labels on current games. I think this could lead to confusion in the future, and have no idea why someone would want to buy these items. He also has multiples listed. He's basicly ruining good games, by puting fake labels on them.

  • Seems stupid to me. More of a novelty than anything.
  • Or what about labels printed on cd based games and they are just blank discs. How shitty is that?
  • I think the labels look really cool actually. Makes me wish they were repros but I don't think its fishy just someone playing around and seeing if there is a market for it. I have no way of knowing that but just a guess. A friend of mine posted the auction on another forum and none of us thought it was odd. Although some say any alternative label is suspect.

I agree, the labels look cool, my problem is that down the road this could cause alot of problems, if these sell well it will lead to other copycats, which will lead to a bunch of OEM games with the wrong label on them. It could also lead to shady buyers trying to pass them off as real games at fleamarkets, and on craigslist.
  • I see the delema of other people hoping on the bandwagon and ruining a bunch of perfectly fine games, but as far as worrying about these showing up in a future flea market and someone getting burned for a couple bucks on a novelty item nah. It's true fakes we need to worry about. I hate scam artist!!
  • The labels do look nice, but why the hell would you put them on random carts with other games on it?
  • Gamble and maybe one of the carts is super rare?

If he knows enough about NES to want to try custom labels, I think he should know enough to only use commons.

Yeah but he also says that he doesn't own a NES so he's not into collecting or anything (maybe he's like a art student or  graphic designer or something?)

  • I don't really see the point. Those games could be put to better use.
  • According to his feedback, no one has bought any yet. Glad to see people on ebay are mostly not as dumb as we think they are.
  • If these were all framed and presented more as artwork pieces, I'd actually have no problem with it. They _do_ look cool.

That's what I figured.  I see this relisted over and over again, clogging up my feed.

  • These would be cool, if they were restoring unsalavagable carts. Like the boards were messed up, or broken. So the shells were really all that is left. Also, if this guy new "nothing" about video games, then why do the labels fit so snuggly? I think this guy is straight scamming people, pretending to no nothing about it. Unless for some reason, the reason for his insane prices are he made so many labels and failed. That he's trying to recoup the loss through the few he made. Either way, who knows what games he ruined!
  • I think it's stupid beyond belief. I can't even begin to see the value in this. Having labels made up of 'the cool show of the week' or 'cool movie of the year' and slapping it on random carts is wasteful.
  • What if they are really common sports games? If so, then I say i'm fine with what he is doing. H doesn't know what the games are though. :/
  • $40 for probably a game on a Golf level rarity with some cheap ass label? Good lord.
