Nintendo Merchandiser's Manual

This is pretty awesome. I bet it goes for some ridiculous price. [EDIT: $1325.00 + $14 s/h] And while it's probably complete, how do you KNOW? But how many of these could even still exist? It's in great shape. And there is a copy of Fun Club News #2 in it. Even though I could never justify buying it I still love to see this kind of stuff.

  • That's not really an employee manual per se. It's a merchandising manual detailing items that was available from Nintendo in 1988. So a better description would be that was a sales tool.

Still very cool. My favorite part of these are the pics and descriptions of all the store displays that were available for order at the time.

    You're right; thread title changed.

Good eye. I have looked at his other items; they all say "from a collection closely associated with Nintendo", whatever that means. The other day I asked for some kind of provenance on one of them. He did respond but didn't really give more info:

"These came directly from a former Nintendo employee in the merchandising department."

So I don't know if it's sketchy or not. In my experience sellers don't like talking about details these days regardless.

  • Wow that would be so cool to have but yeah I couldn't spend almost $900 for it. Still, looking at the drawings of store layouts looked so awesome.

Ah the memories!  Auction from March 2012, the first thing I see when I click on the link "You didn't win this auction"

  • This guy ALWAYS sells ridiculous Nintendo rarities. They do command WAY too high of prices however...
  • This is my number one wanted binder, I have stuff as old as 1990 but nothing before that so I hope to get this binder someday!
  • Damnnnnn! 1,300 bills!? That thing was sweet though...
  • I think that's a new record for a single binder price.

I wanted that thing bad too. I have one really nice binder from 1990 or 91' and this would've made a nice companion piece.
  • I wonder if someone here nabbed it?
  • Not me! Someone else will have to scan it for the M series thread.

I think employee call center books sold for more.

Single games can sell for hundreds and each binder is packed with them.

Do we not have them? I think he sold something similiar like six months back, but it may have been a binder with color pictures of the World of Nintendo items that I believe were after this thing.
  • All the early merchandising stuff was changing so fast that there is probably lots in there that hasnt been seen. Even a similar looking binder would have different stuff if it is a year later.

Why is it when I link old auctions, sometimes they diasappear over time, but you have this one from like three years ago and it's all still there?

Also, this was in the middle of their description, "This is the last book of this kind that I have."

Actually this pisses me off. Description says "It has never been offered for sale before and is being offered here for the first time." I get that sellers use generic text for every auction because they can't be arsed to uniquely describe each piece (or whatever) but when it's a [blatant!] lie, that's messed up.

I'm sure they don't care.  Final price was $1325.

Where is this thread at? If I have something unique maybe I'll scan some stuff in...

  • So do we know if anyone on here won this? I know with that kind of money being thrown at it, some people might not want to publicly claim it.
