  • Got Arkanoid: Doh it Again on medium. Credits roll after 66 levels, not sure what happens after 99

This game is extremely short but very brutal while it lasts, especially on this "secret" difficulty. Unfortunately the US version doesn't have a second loop like the Super Famicom Sonic Wings does. I'm prob going to import that version and try for a 2-ALL at some point in the near future.

Awesome! Nice recovery after that death at 4:40. Some fancy work between 4:40-5:00. Good job on the hovercraft thing in the water too when it's on critical. I found this game to be really tough the first number of times even on the default setting.

Thanks! The run I posted was pretty sloppy in parts, especially the death on the sea level before the hovercraft.  I was actually quite suprised to make to the end on that run when I died early on.  Usually I'd just restart the game at that point but figured I had nothing to lose since the game is so short anyway.

Can't wait to pick up the Japanese version so I can try to tackle both loops in the near future.

Cool, never knew that. I'll have to look into a copy myself. Fun picking up tidbits like that on this site. Probably would have never knew that it was any different.
  • Well I tried to take another shot at Out to Lunch, the only game from my childhood that I've never beaten. And I got rolled. Again.

I'm just going to assume that no-one has ever beaten that damn game
  • Double Dragon V down

  • Fatal Fury 2 down.  And ugh, I think I'm done with fighting games.  Got super pissed trying to beat the last 4 guys

  • Bronkie the Bronchiasaurus

  • Super Ghouls and Ghosts down!  The 2nd run of level 7 was a marathon, but I eventually got the patterns figured out

  • It took a few tries but Clue is down.  First game was figuring out the rules of the SNES version since I had never played it.  Next two games I had a pretty good idea of who it was but an NPC would beat me to the accusation.  This is definitely not a game I would have tried without this challenge.

Oh you beat me to it, I was just going to do this since it's one of the few non-RPG SNES games I own.

I beat it in a previous year though, so I'm glad to see someone else got to experience the EXCITEMENT

One of the other non-RPG's I own is Pit Fighter, but I'm not doing that one this year.  No way.

  • Finally beat Super Buster Bros. on medium.  I completely unravel on level 40.  On the successful attempt I got there with 7 freaking credits, and burned through lives until I beat it with 3 lives remaining.

  • I beat BlaZeon last night on hard, cleared the second loop as well (which seems to be exactly the same as the first on hard). Will post the video tonight assuming it's uploaded by then.
  • My BlaZeon SNES 2 loop clear on hard:

Well...this game isn't the best, in fact it's probably the worst game I've ever cleared. It makes D-Force look absolutely amazing in comparison.

Hah, that's too bad.  I haven't played my copy of BlaZeon but I always thought it looked cool.  And D-Force is just awful...

  • I beat Incantation a few weeks ago for the first time, testing out a new copy I bought and figured someone else would probably beat it and post first.

I was having a really fun time playing until I got to the Chaos Warrior at the end! lol

The biggest issue with BlaZeon is that there are just so many point in the game where literally nothing is happening.  You are just floating through space waiting for something to occur, and this happens frequently.  It just completely ruins the game.

It's too bad, because I feel like it had a lot of potential with the ability to morph into enemies.  The arcade version actually looks much, much better from what I've seen.

  • Ok, looking through my backloggery, I see I beat Super Adventure Island on January 13th (I thought it was closer to Christmas).  I also admit to using youtube help for the final boss.
  • Most of the way through Dragon View right now. I was hoping to have it done this weekend but my wife and I are expecting any day now so that may put a damper on those plans (priorities )

I'm also wondering if the floodgates will be opened if the NES crowd completes their task in the next month
  • That isn't typically how it goes. But one or two of the guys who typically complete a lot of games may come over and help us out.
  • Battletoads Double Dragon goes down.  First time I've beat it since the '90s.  Pretty much entirely rely on the dash kick, which wasn't working so well in level 5 because my D-Pad was too worn out and kept registering right or left as "up".  One controller change took care of that.  And the missile are key on level 4, which I don't remember the manual mentioning how to do; as a kid I had to just randomly stumble across that.

  • Also, that totally reminds me; treating level 4 as a "versus" mode (just trying to kill each other) was some of the most fun my friends and I had with SNES multiplayer back in the day. It should of been it's own mode.
  • That puts you into first place.
  • Beat Final Fantasy III for the first time. I screwed up and went into the final boss battle without equipping most of my characters with anything, but still managed to win.

    Final Fantasy III End Screen
  • Aerobiz Supersonic is done and done! Man I love this game!
  • Earthworm Jim 2 is done

  • All hail Slumlord Fox, baron of low income housing

I have beaten Monopoly (snes.)  Seems like a port of a computer version.  Not a bad version but some of the way it handles auctions I don't think would fly in a real game.  The computer is actually pretty cut throat and never settles for a deal unless it is hugely in his favor.

I played it last week and I got frustrated every turn the CPU was trying to make a trade.  It just took so long to decline the trade and get back into playing.  The CPU also always seemed to get first chance at the auction making me overspend a bid several times since it had just enough to cover the opening bid.

I also tried Jeopardy Deluxe Edition which ended up getting turned off too before it was done.  I was doing really good until I mispelled 1 French person's name by 1 letter on a Daily Double late in the second round to lose everything.  I will never play that game again either.
  • Dragon View is done.  Easiest RPG I've played through on SNES (other than maybe Mario RPG).  The only remotely hard fight was the final one, and that was just because that bastard took like a million hits.  I had to take two breaks because my hand was cramping up.

  • ...and then Wolfenstein 3D to follow it up.  Today is the most gaming I've done in a long time.  Head is swimming a bit

  • Finished off Illusion of Gaia today.  I thought this game was a lot of fun to play, though a bit on the easier side.
