The game's director Takahashi (been in charge since Xenogears) is a huge influence on the musical direction, so as long as he's there, even with a different composer, I'm not worried at all
I've never really gotten into sandbox games and I don't play JRPGs that often (maybe once every couple of years), but Xenoblade Chronicles sucked me in last year and I put 130+ hours into that game (with so much more still left to do quest-wise). I am stoked for X. It looks like it is going to capture a lot of what made the original Xenoblade great--large, luscious environments, huge and intimidating enemies, outlandish scenery, etc., etc. I can't wait. Day one purchase for me.
Yeah, downloaded those a little while ago, good stuff! If anyone knows how to read Japanese, they post updates to Twitter and xenobladex.jp that Google translate can't seem to make sense of for some reason.
So pretty recent news, but Japan's release date is April 29th this year! The translation is undoubtedly a massive project, so I'm guessing we'll see this game hopefully summer/early fall
Pretty Awesome Stuff!! Curious what those little Jar Jar Binx Ewok guys are, haha, could they have actually made characters more anoyying than Nopon? Also it shows a 4/28 release date I think, and 4/2 for Xenoblade N3DS! I thought that was the same release date in America! Here's hoping X will be out 4/28 here as well!!

Tatsu's already looking to be the best character in the game, Nopon are awesome We're getting Xenoblade 3D on 4/10, but we definitely aren't getting X in April. I think it won't be too much longer though since localization is well underway. I'm guessing summer sometime.

I think that'd b a smart time to release it! I think it's shapin up to be a hit! Well at least a Wii u sized hit. They played it smart by putting shulk in smash bros and releasing Xenoblade on New 3Ds first! Should bring alotta new fans! Haha! Nopon are anoyying as all hell tho! I love em and I love exploring there city and the look of it and everything but everytime one of opens there mouth it's like nails on a chalkboard!
So is there any news on what BLADE does? From the name it sounds like they intend to fight gods and/or destiny, like in Xenoblade. I haven't played any other Xeno games, so is this like a recurring theme or something? Is there a reason why? From what I understood this game was supposed to have a "deep sci-fi" story as opposed to a "generic fantasy" story, but the whole "fighting against gods and predestination" seems more in the fantasy genre. Game looks great, don't get me wrong, I'm just curious about the history and themes of the series.

BLADE is just the organization that's in charge of rebuilding the society on the new planet. The player joins in the rebuilding process through "unions" that are part of BLADE. We don't know really anything else about the story, I personally want it to be a surprise.
As for the themes of the series, they are certainly sci-fi (Xenoblade 1 not so much), but have their fantasy and philosphical/religious tones. "Gods" exist within the series, but I don't think that excludes it from being sci-fi. This game won't relate to past games aside from sharing some of those themes, so it stands alone. There's hours of reading involved if you want to know what the past games dealt with

Ok cool, thanks for the info! I was just a little concerned it was going to have a very similar story to the last one. That bothered me with the Tales series - I couldn't really enjoy Abyss because it was so similar to Symphonia.
Forgot to update this thread for anyone who may have missed the Japan Direct that focused on the Mechs and Online from a few days ago. It's got subtitles too
I'm finally playing Xenoblade Chronicles 3D and it's so great. So now I am officially excited for Xenoblade X. I wasn't really paying attention to the game since I didn't know whether it would appeal to me, but I can safely say it will.

Awesome! I really hope more people hop on board once we have an official worldwide release date as this game is shaping up to be one of the best rpgs in a long time. Creative games like this won't exist in the future if people don't support it!
I just picked up my copy of XBC 3D, but I doubt I'll want to go through the whole thing too soon since I beat this game around this time last yr.
I'm very excited. The Wii U is my most desired current gen system. I may finally be ready to lay down the scratch when this one comes out.
Xenoblade seemed really obnoxious to me at first, but on my second attempt at playing through, I noticed how well all the systems fit together, and if quests gave you a little more experience I think it would be an extremely good game. As it is I think it's a very polished title with incredible presentation.
The new Direct showed a lot of XCX and it looks absolutely amazing. I think this might be my most anticipated game right now. I'm currently working through Xenoblade Chronicles 3D which I've really been into since I started playing it. Between that and the new Direct footage... wow. The world looks huge and my god the graphics are gorgeous. Even the story sounds very interesting. I was interested to see more of the game prior to this but now I am officially pumped up for it. I can't wait!
Lots of live streams (some American too) will be starting today since it's now out in Japan if anyone wants to see what the first bit of the game is like.
