  • Ah awesome love boxed games congrats!
  • Rolf Harris! You gotta love his cover of Stairway...and Sparks! Whomp that Sucker! Batteries Not Included! I always liked Kimono My House, but not as much as Sparks in Outer Space. Cool finds. I've been able to find all kinds of great vinyl at flea markets lately.  Unfortunately, I have to get rid of my vinyl collection to facilitate a move 3 stats to the south :-/
  • Nice to share some Sparks love! Sadly Kimono My House is the only one I've got on vinyl I'm always searching for more though... it's a dead heat between Kimono and Tubular Bells for most spins in my shed of dooooom.
  • Another Sunday spent going to swapmeets with the lady...good times!

Here's todays haul as a group mug shot. Ther's actually some pretty good stuff here..

Here's a closer look at the game related scores... a gameboy colour for $5! Sadly with no battery cover but $5! Damn, that's cheap....and a pirate famicom cart for $2 that I'm going to plug in as soon as I finish here...

Another bloody black alien and a kids toy bound for circuit bentness awesome and possibly the worlds greatest film ever made "Plan 9 From Outer Space"... I love that film.

Ahhhh finally some vinyl! And it's Viva Mexico by Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass...sweeeet. Also 2 keyboards for $1 each oh man it's bendy good times coming for me! And check out my boxed MONSTER ROBOT! It makes the worlds most annoying sounds and the box lists one of it's features as "on/off action"....yes kids... it has an on/off switch! What a great selling point!

and finally the black monolith to the left is a black case. I've been chasing a case for ages to put my bent toys in to take to shows and now I have one so good on me.

    Party on friends.

  • Sparks is definitely a fun band. I have a vinyl of Whomp That Sucker, Sparks in Outer Space, and Kimono My House. Nice finds!

I also have Frank Zappa's Apostrophe (') album...
  • Hello!

over the last 2 days myself and the lady have visted 4 op-shops, 3 swap meetsand 1 tip-shop... here's a group mug shot of my haul...

Some funny vinyl including Meat Loafs Bat Out of Hell, Baja Marimba Band (awesome moustaches on the cover!), Herb Alpert Going Places, World Safari 2 soundtrack (Alby Mangles the "adventurer" who made these World Safari docos is a cult legend in Australia, this find is PURE GOLD to me) and finally Popcorn (a compilation of funny sort of tunes like the titular Popcorn)... behind all this is a big mat that goes on the floor and you step on to activate a piano- the red thing above the records makes the sounds... I'm going to bend it and dance on it at shows for hilarity!

Here are some games I got from a swapmeet 2 HES games in cases in pretty good condition and Eliminator Boat Duel hilariously wrapped in cling-film (better then writing on the cart though)... I might have overpaid for Eliminator Boat Duel but I've been trying to find this cart for ages so I thought I'd just buy it...and the gameboy manual I got for freeeee!

Here we have a little instrunctional book on how to play keyboards that has some great photos from the 70's in it of guys rocking out infront of massive modular moogs it's pretty cool man and some simpsons and glitchy alien toys for bending fodder....

Ahhh I love my vhs right now as well as my b movies and nothing screams b movie awesome then NINJA EXTERMINATORS. Shakma is a film I have I have seen before and have been after a copy for years, it's really great. It's about these scientist guys who are experimenting with rage or something on a baboon and while these nerds are playing D&D in the building the baboon escapes and goes on a BLOODY NERD KILLING RAMPAGE! It's full of hilarious bits cutting from a real baboon looking sort of confused to shots of very very obviously fake baboon hands bashing down doors and killing nerds its really funny and great to watch with like minded friends... the music/SFX are roll on the floor funny as they put full on horror sound effects and music over the dodgy baboon hands trying to kill the nerds.....and if that's not funny, I don't know what is.

ahhh a crappy "Australian Idol" brand keyboard bound to bentness and a Tomy "Turnin' Turbo Dashboard" video driving thing... awesome!

    0

and just because you know you love it here's the Tomy toy again... it's in good condition as well, so hooray for me!

    Party on my friends!

  • Man, I had one of those Tomy games as a kid! Brings back memories.
  • Hello again! I was at some swapmeets today and picked up these great trinkets

    image

Orlright! I got a kids drum machine to bend for $2, a Boss 6 track mixer for $20, 2 crappy old VHS films- the Ed Wood classic "Jail Bait" and sci-fi mystery of "SYNGENOR" (SYNthetic GENetic ORganism- SYNGENOR as it says on the box...hilarious!) and a nice loose Bubble Bobble for $6.

The guy I got the Bubble Bobble from said he had like 200 other nes games at home so I told him I'd be back next week so I hope he brings some along. I might offer him like $100 for the lot and see what he says.

    Party on.

  • Looking forward to hearing about the guy's 200 NES games! You've got some pretty cool finds there image
  • Once again I've been missing in action for ages from NA but figured here is a good come back post...

sadly I've not seen Mr "I've got 200 NES games at home" again at that swapmeet but I'm keeping an eye out for the guy and if he shows again I'll pounce..

I was going for a stroll the other day in my suburb and it was hard rubbish roadside collection and I was thinking to myself "What are my chances of finding some NES stuff just lying around?" and then spotted this stuff in a pile of garbage....

    image

Well actually I spotted a couple of trashed master systems, I mean totally broken smashed systems and had a dig through the box and came across this crusty old toaster and 3 carts. The coolest thing about the toaster is that some kids have been writing continue codes on the top of it, I think that that is just awesome. So I took it apart and gave it a bit of a clean and gave the connectors a bit of a bend and it works great so it's now my new nes console. I'm going to have to find a door for it one of these days but I love it how it is at the moment.

I also scored a rainbow wiring loom (for bending), an AV cable, the 7 band stereo EQ and a whole pile of free weights (not in shot).

It was a good day to go frisking through other peoples garbage.
  • I should add this as well, later in the day after the free rubbish finds I scored this for $1 at an opshop...

    image

It is one of the most awesome records I now own.
  • Lol, +1 to anyone who can identify the passwords on that trashed NES image

    That album looks insane.
  • Good call Dangevin, I'd love to find out what games they are for then fire up the games and play from where the kids were at in the 80s!

Edit: and yes, that album is totally the most awesome thing I've got at the moment. Synth moog country with full tweakage. Very mindblowingly amazing. Full cheese.

  • Bubble Bobble
  • Yes Bubble Bobble
  • Cheers guys, I worked my way through Mario 3 today on the trashed nes, I guess Bubble Bobble is next
  • We had a party last night for my lovely wifes 30th birthday and I was about 7 beers in when the boyfriend of one of my ladies mates says hes got a couple of boxes of old video game stuff that he has accumulated over several moves and many housemates leaving their stuff and hes got them in his car and I can have them... so then he goes out and comes in with all this stuff......image

Holy cow Batman! Have a look at the nes and snes games!

    image

and these 2600 games... most of them are boxed and have their manuals which is cool

    image

Check out the systems, the real gold here for me is the "House of Wax" nes. House of Wax was this great old record and tape shop in the city where I live that used to stock heaps of local band stuff and do these great instore performances and was just the coolest shop ever and I was gutted when it closed years ago. I think this one will replace my trashed nes once I give it a clean.

    Hook up madness!

    image

    Yes, free. Very nice!

  • Awesome luck there!
