EVERYONE gets the ROM if it is released, including everyone who didn't donate and everyone who has never even heard of NA. Any title screen changes would probably be erased in a second. There will likely be 2-4 people making cart releases, and at least one making CIB. Having more than one person making CIB is a bad idea where too many parts would be left unsold but anyone is free to use it however they want. That is why Tusk was saying the repro makers should at least make a donation, because they will profit off everyone else.
Eh, I'm in full support of this game getting released in ROM form, I just think it's kinda weak that someone is likely going to make some serious bank on a CIB release that the community paid for to get dumped. The cart releases are inevitable, but I'm assuming they won't be looking at nearly as much profit as the person who is lucky enough to be selected as the CIB guy.
Maybe I'm just bitter for having invested thousands to purchase protos to do a CIB run while someone is going to get a ROM of an unreleased game to do the same thing for free. Anyway, I'd love for this to be preserved regardless, so good luck to all involved.
While I'm all for getting this ROM dumped, I think trying to do a CIB release of the game is silly. If you want it CIB, buy Power Punch II. If you HAVE to have it to play in your toaster, buy one of the inevitable repro releases or throw it on your Powerpak.
Having the rom to note and preserve the changes that were made to the game is awesome. All of this talk of different cartridge releases is ridiculous in my opinion.

If you think there is bigger profit in brand new boxes/manuals with large minimum order quantities than using only cheap bulk donor carts, be the guy that gets selected! First mover will likely win so get to work on your art immediately.
id be willing to make a few cartridges up if need be but CIB is a WHOLE different beast. even if you don't count your time its still a whole lot of overhead. chips alone are pretty expensive because supplies of them are drying up with the way technology is advancing.

Now thats pretty cool, thats almost like tossing in $500 of your own money.
I have been on the fence about this as well to be honest. I think the history behind the game is pretty interesting, but I have no desire to own a cartridge, or even to play the rom. I dont have much money to spend, but after seeing DreamTRs last post, you can mark me down for $20.
I think if anything, NA should do the box/run and use the profits from it to fund the stuff FOR THE SITE. That way no one can say anything about anyone "profiting" from it. I am sure Dain and NGD use lots of resources of their own for this site. The profits for a limited version of this game could pay for the next NA show straight up.
I, for one, will NOT be buying a CIB or cart release of this thing. I'm happy to donate for the ROM, and will play it in my PowerPak.
Airball and Happy Camper were different. Those ROMs aren't/weren't widely available. The ONLY way to play them was to buy them.
Airball is pretty widely released? Isn't it. I thought a few repro makers have that one. I could be mistaken though.
I know Ditka's and HC were only released by NGD. And Bunnyboy has a few that you can't find anywhere else.
All of the repro-makers have Airball NOW, but I'm fairly certain at least Necrosaro's version is a dump of what Bunnyboy is selling. There was a huge controversy about it at the time, and I'm not trying to kick an anthill if I have the facts a little off.
Basically, my point is, you can't just go out and download those games as easily as the other 99.9% of the NES game library.

If a CIB is done, then this is ABSOLUTELY the way it should go down. If it's dumped for NA, and not some random-ass repo maker looking to cash in, I will donate $20 (and so will Mrmark) right now.
I'm all for preserving history AND making NA some well deserved cash!
NGD: If people agree to make it an NA release, please update the list for $20 each for Mark and myself.

^ I agree that it would be great if this project could somehow benefit the site. I dont know what the costs involved are but if there is money to be made on this release, I would prefer NA to get it. After all, if it were not for this site it wouldn't be getting released at all.
Someone still has to _do_ it. And they need to be compensated for their time. Jason will tell you, it's no walk in the park. Shipping, assembling, organizing...
Damn... now that Dream has basically thrown in $500 I feel more compelled to participate in this... but I'm broke. I have a spare Castlevania Legends GB loose cart I'd sell for $25 shipped so I could throw $20 towards the cause. Anyone interested?

But what is stopping the repro makers from selling carts? Once the ROM is released to everyone, then anyone will be able to "cash in". Exactly why Tusk was saying they should at least donate.

You suggested anymore than one CIB release would be a bad idea, and I simply responded that if a CIB were to be done then it should benefit NA.
There's nothing to stop repo makers from selling any release, so I don't know what makes this any different. I would just assume that people would be willing to buy a CIB to help benefit the site. It would be pretty cool.
We are at 1245 right now looks like (if my math is correct, lol)
I would love for this game to be done CIB, but I really don't think this is a great candidate for a CIB game. It is expensive to reproduce and it will be tough to sell the near 100 that would be needed to break even. Would I buy a CIB copy, hell yes! Would I be willing to make a CIB for it, no. I will honestly be happy if the ROMs are released on this one. My end goal is getting pretty close, and with the auctions we have running I think we will get there for sure. If anyone wants this to happen as a CIB then step up and do it. We would be more than glad to receive a donation to the site from anyone that wanted to take on the project and release it CIB. My only goal for this was to get it released, it is fair game to anyone who wants to make a CIB project happen though, cause I really don't think this game is a big time money maker enough to justify all the work.
We can focus on the CIB business once the game is actually released guys, first things first. Don't get the cart in front of the horse. Keep those pledges coming!

Goal $1500
Current $1175
Was the goal lowered?

Any idea who would be making the CIB?

I'd pay for cart only
I'll just do $1500 on this game

I agree very very cool of DreamTR to do that, and im sure he gained a ton of respect from that decision.
Lets get this thing a rollin! Anyone post on DP or the other sites yet??
