Sharp TV/Nes Combo -
Hey there everyone! Second post ever on NA.. so hi!
Anyway, today I kindof got cheated. got a craigslist deal that sounded awesome - $340 Sharp TV/NES system set.
I'm sure you guys are aware that its a tv with a built in NES, and i believe it goes for ~$500+ with everything with it and $250-$300+ when it is in bad shape.
I was told that the system/tv was missing some parts, but that it was fully functional and had one black ($50) controller. The parts it was missing was just the front covers, thats it. (and thats true, nothing else is missing).
However, once the deal went down, the guy magically forgot the controller. I tried to say id go down to $300 to compensate for the controller, but he demanded he needed the $340 for bills and that he would drop off the controller later the next evening. SO I agreed. Cuz i feel obligated to be nice and reasonable.. hah
Well, I get home, and the first strike comes: The 72-pin connector needs replaced, the system starts to a black screen with a buzzing sound going on and off. After thirty minutes of wiggling around many different games, it booted Mario Bros for literally three seconds then went back to black screen. SIgh. I honestly am not one to take apart electronics, so needing a new 72-pin is a big deal to me, even if the NES is designed to be removed. Im sortof a "hire a repairman" kindof guy before i try myself.
The second strike came soon after. I tried to contact the seller to ask about it and he didnt respond. I sent him another message every day for four days, ending with today. No response. Sooo I guess the controller is not going to be here either.
SO what we come down to is that, out of fear of hurting this relic, I dont want to open it. I would be happy to sell it to someone else, preferably close, as shipping this thing is going to be horrific, but i guess it IS possible.
What would people be willing to pay for it? I'd also be willing to have someone repair it, but im sure the chances of you being local for that are veeery small. lol.
I live in Lancaster, Ohio. I know my profile says Alabama, i apologize, im not sure how to change it.
It powers on, shows the screen just fine, all the ports work, power goes through both controller ports, really it just is missing its front covers and needs a new 72 pin connector, or atleast a repaired one.
Thanks in advance.

As is you have an Sharp TV you paid retail on.
I'd get it fixed and keep it, or flip it as is and get your money back. You'd be surprised, people will happily pay $300 for one of these in ok shape.
Thing is that these never show up online, they are more of a local thing, so I'm hoping someone has been waiting and will pop in wanting it. I definitely dont need $340, If it came anywhere near $300 id say its a miracle
**edit**
now that i think about it, it'll likely be closer to $30. i sent out a package about half the tv's size and 12 pounds for like $17. so twice the size + maybe 8 pounds... $35? $40? still up in the air
Many have been destroyed in normal post.

Heck if you were closer to Fort Wayne IN I'd do that for ya.

The more i think of it, the worse shipping sounds. I may want to stay local... Or keep it if i can fix it.. im going to try
However, while i know this is informal, if you'd like for this to be over a secure payment site, I can always use eBay. I have sold maybe twenty bundles (all over $150-$200+, nothing small), and I have never got anything but positive feedback. Unfortunately, in situations like this, its hard to "prove myself" as a trustworthy seller. Feel free to look at my eBay profile if youd like: it is also "Tanker475".
I should note that no, i am not a fan of eBay. Fees are horrific. But in my area, very few people are willing to pay realistic prices for Nintendo products.
I'm going to go post it back on craigslist with a lowered price, you never know with locals i suppose
*puts on a ww2 era helmet* IM GOIN' IN
**edit**
i guess it wont be fixable if i die from the CRT discharge. butttt i dont careee i'm goin' innn
