I ran into that same guy. He accepted paypal so I took a shot. I don't understand what he's trying to do if he accepts paypal where funds can be forcefully returned, especially with the 180 day claim period now. I posted what info I had on him in the HOS thread.
I bought a sealed copy of shenmue 2 for xbox before the prices went up but that copy i got was resealed, the copy i bought was given a y fold and no xbox sticker on the right side. Anyone who bought it new back in the day knows it was shrink wrapped no y fold BS here is a copy to compare if you guys try to buy a sealed copy. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Shenmue-II...
when buying from amazon do not try to buy sealed games from this seller www.amazon.com/shops/pixelperfectgames I should have read the feedback on this guy before buying he has sold reseals before many times.
I would sent it back but he would only pass it off sealed to another buy at a higher price. Check out the feedback just read about 5 pages of it and you will see this guy reseals games all the time
So I bought 2 jigglypuff amiibos from target.com with my paypal account back on the day W4 released. The arrived a few days later and one of them was seriously damaged, the card was folded in half. I called Target Customer Service and they offered me a refund or a replacement. I said I really want to have the amiibo so I took the replacement and shipped it back. It arrived to the warehouse at target and I called the support asking when I would receive my replacement. Turns out they can't replace it because they were sold out so I'm out a jigglypuff amiibo. I now have two options Take a refund or they will send me one when the item is restocked (lol good luck with getting a restock anytime soon...)
They offer a $5 compensation gift card regardless of what happened and I say finally I will accept the refund. They then check the records and see that I can only be refunded with a target gift card value of the item since i paid with paypal (they aren't allowed to refund paypal balance payments, apparently because of a lack of authorization). After talking to a supervisor they offer me an additional $10 gift card on top of the refund balance gift card.
I basically paid in the end, $12.99 + tax for $27.60 in 3 separate target gift cards.
TL;DR I kinda got screwed over and forced into getting target gift cards. The people I talked to on support were awesome and super duper helpful (EXCEPT THE ONE WHO OFFERED AN AMIIBO REPLACEMENT TO PUT ME IN THIS MESS!!!) but the target policies are really bad.
In a way, I honestly think it was a blessing that I was permanently banned from selling video games on ebay. I sure do miss the extra money that selling on that venue brought in, and likewise I am sure that some of my former customers also miss me selling on there, obscure games for reasonable / low prices. But then when I read stuff about people bitching about shipping, I just shake my head and wonder what is wrong with people these days.
As people that have dealt with me before can attest, I ship things and provide tracking information on my own schedule, not on theirs. I don't have a smartphone with internet access, and as I told one of my friends, I often don't even have my phone by my side. People these days are just too damned impatient and need to grow up, period.
Does this sort of attitude win me any seller awards? Probably not, but at the same time, I treat my buyers with integrity and respect. Now just selling on the forums, I am selling to people that are overall much more level-headed, and it makes the transactions go much better.
When I purchase items, I like to receive them as soon as possible, and likewise, when I am selling items, I like to receive payment quickly as well. However, I also realize that everyone has their own situations in life, their own quirks and problems. Maybe Jack can only pay next Tuesday because he has a drinking problem, and lives paycheck to paycheck. Fine by me, if he tells me upfront about it. Or maybe Joe only ships on Fridays, because he is too busy juggling three jobs and taking care of the kids and wife. Once again, fine by me.
Unless it is a gift, I am not going to get bent out of shape if my old piece of plastic gets to me in three days, seven days, or two weeks. I just order the stuff, add it in the pending section of my checklist, and forget about it until it arrives. Gives me something to look forward to, and these days I just keep myself busy, so I don't even think about the wait time.
I had a buyer who bought a $10 game, paid with PayPal and I shipped the same day with tracking. He then emailed me asking if I could refund his money because he wanted to pay from a different PayPal account. I said that was fine. If he made the new payment I would refund the original.
He wasn't happy about sending the new payment first and thought I was going to steal his $10 if he paid twice. Eventually he did send the second payment and I refunded the original within half an hour. During that 30 minutes, he sent at least 5 messages calling me a thief and an liar and threatening to report me to the police because I hadn't refunded his original transaction within 30 seconds of him sending the second payment.
Some people just do not know how to interact with others.

I think that is the problem here. Some people just grab their weapons and go, shoot first and ask later. I think the majority of folks are honest, and (imo) if someone is going to screw me out of $10 and risk tarnishing their name, they need the money more than me. I know I am old school in thought, thinking this way, but it all goes back to mutual trust and respect, leading to a pleasant transaction.
So recently I sold some games to get money to get a jaguar, one popped up pretty cheap with a game I liked so I decided to buy it. The seller said in the listing it works but contains no wires which I was fine with because I have just about every ac adapter on the planet and have an rf switch for it. So I finally get it, it came in a smashed box that looked like it was used about 100 times and barely fit the console and game, and it had no bubble wrap or anything. When you pay almost 100 bucks for something you should protect it for the sellers sake so it doesn't come damaged. I hook up the wires and I get nothing on screen, just some more weird fuzz from my tv. I contact the seller and he belittles me by telling me I have to put a game in to make it work. After many tries of different power adapters I can't get it to, so I tell him the deal and he says he tested by av hook ups. My next step is I buy the av cord, get it in the mail and still nothing. I asked him befor buying if I could get a 10 dollar refund for the rf not working which he agreed to after a couple of mean messages, which I still haven't recieved. So now I'm sitting here pissed off, maybe it worked when he had it, but it sure doesn't work now and I coulda been how he shipped it that broke it, so I ask for a full refund. He refuses and says I'm not using official jaguar wires so he can't issue the refund, which lead me to believe it was broken from the start if he doesn't wanna issue a refund. I got so pissed and didn't want to deal with the prick and a return that I'm cutting my loses and just gonna get it repaired, so much for a deal

Million dollar question- did you try it with a game in it? He's correct about that part.

lol yes, why is that even a question, how do you test any system to see if it works without putting a game in it
Its a legit question. Had a guy here leave me a neutral because he didn't bother putting a game in the Atari I traded him before declaring it broken...
a seller, from france, canceled my winning auction because someone else gave him more money...

I had a similar situation happen on Craigslist. I made a deal with a guy selling a laptop. We agreed on said deal, and set up a meetup spot that day. I even texted the guy to let him know I was currently leaving the house and how long it would take me to get there.
So, I get there, and wait. And wait. And wait. It's been about an hour, so I send the guy a message asking where he is. No answer. I ask again. He finally responds, and says he sold it to someone else. WTF.
I had a deal on craigslist a couple months back where it was a N64 bundle with Conker's Bad Fur Day for $45, we had texted back and forth and agreed to meet early the next morning. So the next morning I sent another text requesting the address he first acts like he didn't know what deal, then tells me he already sold it the previous night after we went back and forth....
I have had good transactions on Craigslist and Facebook though and buy from the same group of sellers pretty often.
I want to toss my hat into this ring. Gamestop has their retro games on their website now. The pricing? Offensive as all fuck. Now my worry is that Gamestop is going to force the prices up every where else, because people are ignorant assholes and always follow the leader. Even if it's right off the edge of a cliff.
You also aren't given any information if the CD based games are a greatest hits version, come with the jewel case, or instruction booklet. I would have made a post waxing and waning about it, but this thread is here. So here I am; pissing and moaning about things out of my control that may have a direct impact on me. I don't know. I just noticed prices of games starting to rise on eBay and shit.

Their prices are no worse and in some cases even better than other online game stored like JJ or Lukie. Just saying.

A ripped off index finger is better than the prices at Lukie. I don't even know what JJ is and I'm afraid to ask.
Anyone else notice that eBay made their mobile app default to 7 day listings for BIN? What a crock of shit. Just another way to milk fees out of sellers.

I just looked through their prices and, while I'm no big fan of GS, they are not really that high for the NES stuff. Some are actually low. Toploader for $59.99, wish I could buy 10 at that price.

I'm not taking sides on your issue with the Jaguar, but from experience I can say they can be finicky. The reason it is mentioned you need a game in it, aside from the obvious reason you'd start the console with a game, is due to a design decision by Atari. The Jaguar was designed to not power on if it doesn't have a game inserted into the contacts. This has tricked many peeps into thinking they have a broken Jag when more than likely they just need to clean the game's contacts. It's kind of a fatal flaw. I hope that is the reason you're having a problem, although I'd be skeptical (and mad) given the shipping method was so bad. Good luck brother!

Lol yea I put a game in, the thing lights up but just doesn't respond to the tv. I gave up on the tv and I'm having someone fix it
Sold a VMU for dreamcast. It saves fine and pictured holding saves. I never put the CR batteries in there because they are always dead so I remove them. They really serve little purpose. Functions without them. Well turns out the VMU is japanese. Buyer says it saves fine but he cant set the time and date because he cant read japanese. Shows up on screen in english though BTW. Just japanese when you run it solo with the batteries in it. Operates the exact same. Wants a refund/replacement. ughh Just frustrated. Getting alot buyers returning wanting refunds for no reason/ international quoting things are lost lately. The last 2-3 weeks Ive refunded like over 200 bucks and it just sucks. Only one legit return in all of them and they sent the system back priority mail which costs me an extra 10. Very frustrating time. Ebay sucks the most June/July and christmas/tax refund season. Every year same times of year the returns/defects/ annoying buyers come.
at least you are still selling. my sales for june and july are usually in the dumps. I usually just list as much as I can in preparation for the holiday season

In fairness, it's only the game prices that are a bit steep at Lukie. However, manuals and guides...he sells those for dirt cheap, especially for the Genesis.

Don't tell me that. I want to eat this week and I make horrible choices...
Since when can buyers send cancel order requests to sellers on ebay after they hit a BIN with immediate payment required? Can you do that with auctions you win and don't want to pay for now, too? lol
Some guy buys a newly listed game last night from me for $40 and then I get a cancel request a few minutes later with a message, "please cancel" and it felt just like selling on Amazon where half of the people buy something and then change their minds 5 minutes later or even after I shipped. That's why I quit selling on Amazon!

Buyers are always allowed to send cancel requests. I assume he had already paid? Technically you're not obligated to accept it, but it's not likely to go well if you decline. He'll likely open a case for some bs reason to force a return.
I'm more concerned that sellers can now unilaterally cancel sales even after payment has been sent.
I feel like feedback etiquette has been getting worse lately. My practice as a seller is to leave a positive as soon as the buyer pays because they fulfilled their end of the deal and then hope that the buyer is considerate enough to leave feedback in return. Now I've had multiple transactions as a buyer with no feedback! Even when I've left feedback for the seller BEFORE they've left it for me as the buyer, they still don't post it. I'm just frustrated at the lack of common courtesy...

Fuck this guy. Is a huge dick. BLOCK HIM
I want to toss my hat into this ring. Gamestop has their retro games on their website now. The pricing? Offensive as all fuck. Now my worry is that Gamestop is going to force the prices up every where else, because people are ignorant assholes and always follow the leader. Even if it's right off the edge of a cliff.

Their prices are no worse and in some cases even better than other online game stored like JJ or Lukie. Just saying.

A ripped off index finger is better than the prices at Lukie. I don't even know what JJ is and I'm afraid to ask.

In fairness, it's only the game prices that are a bit steep at Lukie. However, manuals and guides...he sells those for dirt cheap, especially for the Genesis.

I hear that man. I spent way too much on imports this week...month...ugh...
Since when can buyers send cancel order requests to sellers on ebay after they hit a BIN with immediate payment required? Can you do that with auctions you win and don't want to pay for now, too? lol

What are your thoughts on the whole restocking fee thing?
