  • Hope it does more for Mega Man than Sonic Boom did for Sonic.
  • I read that earlier today. I'm intrigued.
  • A part of me thinks this could be a Michael Bay type situation where things are changed like in TMNT and the Transformer movies which angered lots of fans. But on the other hand, finally being able to see Mega Man back in the spotlight regardless of changes made makes me pretty happy.
  • There's also the Mega man board game

Yeah, and tons of other merchandise out there and more on the way. But if done right, this cartoon could really springboard Mega Man back to prominence and there would be a ton more merchandise than what there already is. Not sure if my wallet could take it.
  • Do like Battle Network did and Tie in Merchandise and Video games with the TV Series. Look how long Battle Network lasted. how many games were there 6? and some of them had multiple versions.
  • Thread title is misleading, I thought it was the game series

That's exactly what I was thinking. I thought this was going to be them announcing a new megaman game to compete with Mighty No.9. I'm wondering why they announced this 2 years in advance though. Seems weird to announce something about an animated T.V series this far in advance. I do think if the T.V show or animated series or whatever it is does well, then they'll definitely make some more games. I'm all for more megaman battle network games. It's the 2nd best megaman series behind the megaman X series. No more starforce games though....those were complete garbage
  • Damnit I was excited for a new game.
  • I seriously hope the use something at least close to the original animation of the movie, Megaman Upon a Star. The animation was spot on with Mega Man's design. While the movie was pretty much more around Japanese culture, I loved it for the animation.

  • Well, they state that the cartoon will be a springboard for lots of merchandise and video games.
  • If it means more games and merch, I'll all for this too!
  • Can't wait to get equipped with this.

I hope that the franchise follows in the footsteps of Transformers and TMNT in that it bridges the generation gap and becomes widely popular.
  • If they made a new mega man super true to the first games with updated graphics and bosses because of this, I would have an orgasm so violent it would cause an aneurism.

Lol. Like Thunderblaze said,I'd love to see it done in the "Wish Upon a Star" OAV art style, but as long cartoon is successful and returns Mega Man to his former glory (and then some) they can do whatever.
  • That's awesome. I was/am a big fan of the cartoon, I even got my nephew into it haha.
  • Alright, if this helps Mega Man actually exist as a thing again, I'm all for it. Ben 10 wasn't bad, and I'm pretty sure some of those dudes worked on Transformers Animated which is a goddamn work of art (and a decent template for what a Mega Man cartoon should be).

I think this is just a sign of good faith if nothing else; between this and the Legacy Collection Capcom seems to be saying "we're sorry, we didn't TOTALLY ABANDON Mega Man, he just needed a few years off!" and I think it's an okay start. I suppose I shouldn't get my hopes up about it bringing back Mega Man Legends 3, though...

So do I. Now I feel like watching the Ruby-Spears cartoon again,as hokey as it is.

You know what, as goofy as it was, it had its heart in the right place, and I feel like there were a lot worse cartoons at the time. I remember liking it a lot more than the "serious" Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon.

True, although I wish they had gone with their original plan and made the cartoon like this:

Instead we got what we did, which wasn't terrible but it could have been so much better. One thing I've found so bizarre about the Ruby-Spears cartoon was the soundtrack. Makes no sense at all because none of the songs have anything to do with Mega Man. It's like one of the producers just threw in songs from his favorite mix tape into the end credits.
  • Im happy to see Megaman getting more recognition in this day and age, lets just hope this isnt a Sonic Boom kind of situation. Also even though it wont happen id love to see the revival of Legends 3, I just finished the legends games+Tron Bonne and those are some very good games.

Good lord, that preview is beautiful! It reminds me a lot of that Mega Man Upon a Star OVA from forever ago, were the clips just taken from that or is this all-new animation?

Dude, me too. I love Mega Man Legends so much, and I was thrilled to find Tron Bonne on PSN. Amazing series, and it's a shame about the third one.

You bring up a good point with Sonic Boom, though - another company has basically tried this exact same thing and we all saw how it went. Fingers crossed Mega Man's hands aren't covered in tape or something.
  • Wonder how close it will be to the games.
  • If the Archie comics are any indication, this can end up being a great show. Hope they follow the footsteps of those instead of making it nothing like the games for no reason.
  • I'm excited for this. My youngest knows who Mega Man is from my bead spriting work, and she likes to watch me play the original NES games. Having something relevant in media would help bridge the gap beyond "that one thing Dad likes."

I just hope that whatever it is, it has some kind of far-reaching access. I remember the original Mega Man cartoon series being on one weird channel my cable company didn't provide, and was only on at a weird point in the morning after I had already gone to school. It'd be great if it got on a big channel like Cartoon Network or Nick. Cartoon Network would be great, as they've got plenty of room between the 4 hour blocks of the same 5 shows they have on all day.

I hope so too. I was only able to watch it because my parents had a satellite dish and I was able to watch it on some channel in Denver. Cartoon Network would be perfect. I just hope they can merge what makes Mega Man so awesome with a presentation that kids love to make the show popular and successful.
