Dragon Quest 7 & 8 3DS WILL be coming to the West!?

It seems to be pretty much confirmed after years of waiting for 7, and 8 was just announced. I'll finally get to play 7 to finish every mainline game and I'm do for another 8 playthrough.

*cough*
However I'd be a bit happier if Dragon Quest X or ANY Rocket Slime game were announced.
If the Dragon Quest VII release has some nice new features and -ahem- better cover art than the PS1 release, I'll be very happy with that.
I'm already quite content with Dragon Quest VIII on PS2, but new features are always nice.
I am so happy about this news.

DQ 7 was definitely updated, the intro was made shorter I think and other improvements. There's info out there since the Japanese release you can check out.

Why didn't you just play the PS1 version? It's not like it's outrageous expensive or super rare.
And DQ 8 on the DS seems like a downgrade. A little screen isn't a befitting place for the world of Dragon Quest 8.
If I ever get a 3DS,(unlikely) I definitely plan on playing all of the DQ remakes, but I may just opt to watch playthroughs on each of them instead since I've beaten them all except for DQ 6.

I waited because by the time I finished every other DQ game, 7 remake was already announced/released in Japan. Since I have a massive backlog of other games I was more interested in, might as well wait. Plus when I hear about the flaws in the original, it doesn't sound too enticing especially when this version fixes basically everything. I had a glimmer of faith they weren't going to sit on it forever.
Defintely agree on DQ 8 on a lower resolution screen, however they are removing random encounters so all enemies will be on screen like in DQ 9, plus other added playable characters and scenarios, so it's worth trying instead of replaying the PS2 version. I enjoy handheld gaming, so it's not a hard choice

Fair enough, although despite its' flaws DQ 7 was a pretty solid game. Not the best DQ game ever, but definitely very good. The few animated cutscenes that they had were pretty awful, but it was such a small part of the game that it was mostly a waste even including it.
I just wonder if they fixed the issue of having to do this one thing in the game that if you don't,you can never do again and therefore miss out of that part of the game entirely unless you have a backup of your save before that event.
I'm with Cirellio. Rocket Slime on the DS was fantastic. I wish we could get the sequel here in the West
Not as excited for VIII but I'm happy it's coming over as well.
I'm very happy 3DS DQ VII was officiated. My eyes are on DQ VII and XI now.
The pre-orders for VII and VIII are both up
