Konami on SNES...

So... I've been playing some awesome games recently on SNES. Sunset Riders, TMNT 4: Turtles In Time, Axelay, Castlevania 4.... and I'm thinking to myself, these games are ALL amazing.... then it clicks in my brain. KONAMI.

SO I just did a quick wiki search (a bit easier than clicking through the pages on NA) and got a list of SNES, Konami on SNES, more specifically games.

What do you think of the other Konami games?? Some others in there I haven't played that are awesome?

  • Sorry about the sloppy copy and paste. It's showing up in my window as links.
  • If you enjoyed Axelay, Gradius III is a sideview type shmup that may blow your mind. The Legend of the Mystical Ninja is an SNES game everyone should at least try out. Instead of Dracula X though, I'd recommend playing the definitive version if you can- Castlevania: Rondo of Blood on the PC Engine CD. That's the true experience there.

Sweet. I actually got Gradius 3, too. This guy LOVED Konami, too, haha. Legend of the mystical Ninja I'll check out as well.

Check out Sparkster too. It's a super tight platformer and is the sequel to Rocket Knight Adventures which was on Genesis. Also awesome. Sparkster is on Genesis as well, but it's actually a completely different game than the SNES one.

Neat. I just looked up Sparkster. Looks expensive, haha...

That's the issue these days for sure...most anything Konami or Capcom on SNES will likely draw a fairly high price, online at least.

I just got a PC Engine Duo two weeks ago and that was the first thing I bought. I'm on Stage 7 and it is nothing short of spectacular. Quickly becoming the best Castlevania IMO.

  • Super Castlevania IV FTW!
  • International Superstar Soccer and International Superstar Soccer Deluxe were the bomb. Top football games on the SNES.

Oh Hell yea! It's like the ultimate old school CV Tribute for me. The Ghost Ship level was my fav and the Stage 6 boss rush is balls to the wall. I got 100% in it earlier this year, but still haven't beaten it with Maria.

I've used Maria most of the game and I think it's way easier with her move set. Do you know how to unlock her special move?

I know about her Alter-Ego/Darkside Maria Attack. It's pretty tough to do, but it's down, up, down-forward and attack I believe.

Ah! That's the one. I was doing it wrong. :/

  • There's lots of other games made by Konami on other systems that are AWESOME, RADICAL, TUBULAR and BOGUS!!
  • Konami was great on things besides the snes\nes too. I liked them because they released games for systems other than nes\snes only like some others; for example their PC-Engine support. Sur ethey released some weird crap (Tokimeki Memorial) and some sub-par games (I was the only person who played Martial Champion in our arcade; and I was the only person I knew who owned the home version), but they released some cool shit. And heck, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plan_9_from_Outer_Space_(video_game) they were the developer, not the publisher of. And their ReBirth series was cool too.

And yet Kicker\Shalo-Lin Road never gets any love.

I played a 100% completion run earlier this year and it's simply an amazing game. I've beaten Dracula X for the SNES and it's nowhere near as good as the PC Engine version even though I think it's supposed to be an alternate version instead of a direct port.

  • I'd say any of the Rocket Knight and Goemon games are worth checking out
  • How is Cybernator not mentioned? An all time favorite.
  • There's games?! I'm spent after hearing this:

Because Konami published Cybernator. NCS developed it. It's easy to forget that because of Konami's big shiny logo on Cybernator's box, but it was NCS who actually developed the game.

Anyway, yeah, Konami was awesome in the 16-bit era. 8-bit too. They were simply awesome. The worst game on that SNES list is probably Animaniacs, which I briefly played and didn't really like, but it wasn't like it was unplayable, either.

Miss the days when Konami and Capcom were constantly cranking out awesome title after awesome title.
  • When I look at my SNES and NES collection, it seems that 90% of the games I play on a regular basis are Konami games. I won't repeat everyone's love for all the well known classics, but I'll add one that no one has mentioned so far:

Pop'in TwinBee. The TwinBee series didn't get much support over here in America. In fact, only "Stinger" (Twinbee 2) was released here, while Europe got Pop'in Twin Bee and the Rainbow Bell Adventures. Anyways, for those with a SFC or a tab removed SNES (or a Pal console), Pop'n Twinbee is a bright and colorful 'cute 'em up' with catchy anime-ish music, fun gameplay, with ridiculously cute enemy sprites and sound effects. This is the vertical shooter for fans of the Paradious series.

Masaya was the developer's name, NCS was their parent company.  As a TG-16\PCE fanboy I remember the logo well:

they did the Cho Aniki series, and double dungeons (Not a thrilling RPG, but kinda fun; not many 2 player dungeon crawling first person RPGs. )  They also did Langrisser(Warsong), the localization of bettletoads on famicom and super famicom, the Assault Suit's series (Duh, cybernator), the prince of persia port on super famicom (Not 100% sure if they did the programming or localization).

  • Metal Warriors and Zombies Ate My Neighbors are MUST OWN titles. Cybernator is fun too.

Ah, thanks for the technical correction. Yes, Masaya. They made some nice games.
  • IS THERE A BAD KONAMI TITLE ON SNES? I feel like everyone is mentioning there favorites and almost taking up the whole list of konami titles.... Are there any to avoid?
  • It's a shame that Konami is garbage these days.

Like I said, I found Animaniacs to be pretty mediocre. Need to try it longer but the brief time I played it it didn't catch my fancy. It's not something I'd go out of my way to buy, unless you're a huge Konami/Animaniacs fan.
  • Batman Returns is an excellent beat 'em up on the SNES. If you haven't played this game, do yourself a favor and give it a try. It was one of the first SNES games I got as a kid and it didn't disappoint one bit.
