What's up with this Donkey Kong Country cart?

Not my auction http://www.ebay.com/itm/snes-game-lot-/151745814202?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2354c15eba

The DKC is black. Repo? (Why would you repo DKC?) Some bootleg? IDK

Comments

  • Killer instinct swap most likely.
  • Just a shell swap or paint job ^^

And oh, repro, not repo. Repo = Reposession

    What about that label? Repro?

  • Just a custom case for the DKC. I doubt that it's a bootleg board, but I guess someone could be out there making fakes of a $12 game
  • Yeah seems like a repro label. The board might be completely legit, although stuck in either a painted or most likely Killer Instinct-swapped cart. Kinda stupid.

    Agreed

  • there's no way to peel the label and put it on another shell, so the label is also repro unless the shell was painted.
  • If you look in the description it says "Donkey kong Country repro case Nintendo cartridge"

Yep...literally states it right in the description!

  • If I remember correctly, someone posted about some vintage bootleg DKCs a long time ago...

That's definitely a cart swap. colored SNES shells do exist, but why do this???

EDIT: My local Game-X-Change had several N64 and SNES carts painted in purple nail polish, presumably originating from the same owner. No official carts were ever released in purple and it was funny because looking at the pin connectors, the carts were gray inside. Wierd...

I swear that wasn't there when I first saw the auction.
  • Maybe it's just me (or my monitor), but that shell looks dark green, not black?

It's dark green. I have no idea why people are saying it's black...
