So i sent an offer of 60$ for all these n64 boxes.

Im currently in search of any n64 boxes and games i can get. I saw this and hardly looked at it before i made an offer of 60$ knowing he would not take it. turns out he did lol. Did i pay a fair price for these or no? Honestly i offered 60$ before i even saw the 2nd picture with some other boxes i actually was looking for. When i saw 6 people had already looked at it when it just went up i had to try and get it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/252049061501?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

  • posting it on here is a good and quick way to get backdoored out of a deal. just a heads up.
  • Thats an awesome score, but I wouldnt have posted this until you received it all in the mail cuz somebody could get to the seller and offer them $75 and take them from you. Just a heads up.
  • Sorry. Im kind of new here and just got excited. Plus he just shipped them. That was quick. i will watch out before i post. Probably should not of said i lowballed now people will think i normally do that...
  • Considered he is charging $20 for shipping it's not that great of a deal, but still decent. I hope nobody from here jumps in on it and ruins it for you.
  • I wouldn't call a $60 best offer on a $75 OBO a real low ball
  • considering most people who have best offer on items never even want to go 3$ less i count it as somewhat of a lowball...
  • It wasn't -- it was fair. He got cash and prolly wanted to get rid of the boxes to someone who is likely a collector. Mission success for both parties.

I wholly agree with this here.  Plus again like mentioned above he's also making money on the shipping portion too given that he charged almost $20 for just boxes.

Wait.... what? I'm fairly new here. How do people do this? and Why do they do this?

How: Since he posted the link to the eBay auction. I could easily send the seller a message offering more money. If I can work out a deal before he ships it out, I have successfully backdoored him.

Why: Sellers can often be influenced with more money.

This is against eBay policy though right?

also someone would have to be a real scumbag to do this right?

Correct. It happens more than you think though.
  • Well its good he shipped them like 5 mins after i payed so yeah.
  • It's also against OUR policy -- we definitely frown upon that kind of action. Backdooring is never good but you just never know what lurkers might be watching these threads.

That shit makes my blood boil.
  • I've been backdoored on video game deals more times than I can count. My favorite was a seller who told me they dropped everything in a sink full of water while packaging it. 5 minutes after purchase. 5 minutes before it was relisted for more money and immediately purchased. Happens all the time, people are cutthroat when it comes to games. To the gallows with them!
