Lex Luger vs. Yokozuna at Summer Slam many years ago. Yoko was the WHC, and Luger won by count out. Which means he did not get the belt. But, there was this huge celebration as if he did. There was confetti, streamers, waving USA flags, the works, and he didn't get the belt! It just felt really wrong.
Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins at Hell in the Cell last Fall. That Scooby-Doo bullshit ending with the Wyatt hologram was just awful.

So funny how over the wanted lex to get, putting him in an American flag tour bus and sending him around the country lol the whole slamming yoko thing too, he was one of the most below average workers who got into the main event in history, even wcw tried pushing him
I still remember when they introduced Ahmed Johnson, whre they had him show up Luger by body slamming Yokozuna multiple times after Lex couldnt get him up once. Too bad that dude got fat and huge, he was a beast back in the day.
Ahmed was basically the black lex liger, dood had the look down but was a terrible wrestler and Jesus never give that man a mic. I gotta say though I was an Ahmed Johnson fan back then, hbk endorsed him so in turn I did
ahmed was in wcw? musta been when i stopped watching that show, they sure did love dumpster diving at wwf. i cant fully make fun of wcw though, i do love their late 80s and early 90s stuff
Went to the CZW show last weekend , it was a great show . they had the heel champ drop the strap in an unadvertised title match after the main event. the place went nuts
The thing I remember Ahmed most for were the "drafts." His trunks seemed to go halfway up his ass in 50% of his matches. It threw me off too why he never bothered to fix it/look into this. As a kid it was slightly disturbing lol.

Dude, yes! I remember the vingettes of Johnson like, running around a track or something, lol. "Pearl River Plunge, by gawd, King!"
All of it just reminds me of the Nation of Domination era, and The Rock's $500 shirts, lol.
The IC title is a curse. It would take a lot to give it prestige of any kind.
What we need are Mr. Perfect vs. Bret Hart type quality matches to bring that title back to the forefront. Back in the day, IC was a great stepping stone for future world champions, which made the steady character build-up great for the fans and prepared the wrestlers for the upper card style matches as well.

I was hoping that's what Daniel Bryan would have done with it if he didn't get re-injured...hopefully with the crop of new talent coming up from NXT they can start putting them into the frey for it and have someone do what Nakamura did to the IWGP Intercontinental title and bring it (back) to prominence

Great comment here. It's not the belt itself, but the wrestler(s) holding it that make all the difference.

This. This times all the this-es.
My favorite matches of all time are Mr. Perfect vs Bret Hart.
The Intercontinental Title was actually my favorite belt/title growning up...alot of great champions and more importantly, actual wrestling matches vs the world title most of the time, especially during the Hogan era and his 5 moves of doom.
The ic title was always my favorite wwe belt, all the up and comers got to hold it befor their whc title runs, it was a way to see if they can fit the role of the main eventer in a way. So many great matches for that title. D bry was deff gonna bring it back to us but that title is cursed and he had to get injured again. Great idea someone said though about putting it on an nxt guy and making it a work horse title again, I could totally see like Sami zayn having a long meaningful run with it in the future. Unlike new japan though I think the backstage people wouldn't be happy having their whc title eclipsesd by the ic title, they hate making money and their fans happy

Same here. The belt design looked amazing to boot! Even before you had Mr. Perfect and Bret Hart in the IC Title race, you had the brilliance of Randy Savage and Ricky Steamboat. True wrestling finess and psychology at its finest. Just incredible stuff back then!
The Perfect/Hart King of The Ring '93 match is where it's at.
That one and the Summerslam '91 match blow my mind on multiple levels. I went to see my first house show in 1991 and saw the Perfect and Hart matchup live. They wrestled so many times, it was just a well-oiled machine and a sight to behold.
There's a super classic Mr. Perfect moment in King of the Ring '93. I think it's against Mr. Hughes and Perfect tosses the towel behind his back and it lands 'perfectly' on the shoulder of Mr. Hughes. It's like a one in a million shot...for most people anyway lol
I'm starting to think the IC belt is cursed too, but most of it comes down to shitty booking(poor Barrett ). I had high hopes for Bryan, but he dropped it almost the same time of year he dropped the WHC belt last year. I feel bad for that dude.
I have high hopes for Ryback. He's got so much potential, but he's so unpolished and rough. He could be a killer main eventer if he smoothed out his performance and was more confident on the mic.

CM Punk commented on wrestling Ryback saying he doesn't take regard for the safety of the other wrestlers and causes a lot of unnecessary injuries because of that and the overall sloppiness of his work. Definitely unpolished but a beast to be sure. Some people just need to be taken under a veteran's wing and learn a thing or too about the finer points of getting over.
Yeah, Ryback has a reputation for being sloppy and stiff, but it's not too late for him. It's clear from his run as a face, that he's actively trying to improve his performance and presence. If he continues to improve, he's got a bright future. Otherwise, he'll be gone in no time. We don't have enough beastly-type guys, and Lesnar is only going to last so long. Big E is definitely big, but doesn't have that aggressive persona. Mark Henry is just a 400 lb. bag of sand.

The thing about that though is ryback isn't even a rookie and he's still green as shit, I just don't think he has it in him. He sure has the passion but he's just not a good worker, I doubt that will ever change with him. Wrestling isn't based on muscles anymore and that's all he has that is carrying him right now. I have no hope that he will get better and should stay in the mid card or maybe a tag team

I liked Ryback a lot when he first debut in WWE (as Ryback). He didnt say much and didnt have to, he was an unstopable barbaric brute.

As Austin reaches for the briefcase someone pulls it out of reach. We NEVER found out who did it!

...is Ryback still champ? Is he injured still?
He showed up on RAW and I believe he's cleared to wrestle @ SummerSlam
